Police Chief: How to Process and Transport Your First Arrest

To process an arrest in Police Chief, you must restrain the suspect, load them into your patrol car, drive to the station, and submit them through the precinct booking interface. Completing this handover clears active custody status and frees your vehicle for new patrol duties.

Detaining and Escorting a Suspect

Initiating an arrest requires closing the distance on foot. Suspects can flee if you fail to act quickly.

1. Approach the target closely until the interaction prompt appears.
2. Open the radial menu and select the Arrest command to apply handcuffs.
3. Once restrained, the suspect transitions into a detained state and automatically follows your character.
4. Walk the suspect back to your vehicle. Park your patrol car near the scene to keep foot transit short and prevent extra incidents on the street.

If the suspect stops following during the walk, move closer to their location to reset the follow tether. If you lose visual contact, check your map for location indicators.

Securing Suspects in Your Vehicle

A detained suspect must be placed inside the vehicle before you can begin transport. They cannot be processed while standing outside the car.

• Positioning: Bring the suspect to the rear passenger door of the patrol car.
• Vehicle State: Ensure the vehicle is fully stationary with the engine turned off.
• Loading Action: Interact with the rear door and select the context-specific Transport or Arrest option from the radial menu rather than a generic interaction prompt.

Confirm the suspect is loaded into the vehicle inventory before driving away. Leaving the area before loading is complete can trigger pathing resets or cause the suspect to despawn.

Precinct Handover and Prisoner Booking

Transporting the suspect to the station is the final stage of clearing an arrest.

1. Drive the patrol car to your station and pull into the designated precinct drop-off zone.
2. Exit the car, interact with the vehicle to release the suspect, and lead them into the precinct building.
3. Interact directly with the booking interface or holding cell terminal inside the station to finalize the handover.

Completing the booking clears the suspect from your active duty log, opens space in central transport, and makes your patrol car available for new assignments.
