To beat the Season 15 Boss Challenge on Hell difficulty in Project Clean Earth (v1.9), run an automated ranged loadout, circle the perimeter of the arena, and save your dash ability exclusively for perpendicular escapes against linear charges. Hell difficulty features elevated boss health pools, heavy armor, and tight evasion windows that make static melee builds unviable.

Equip weapons that track targets independently so you can keep moving while dealing continuous damage.

Arena Movement and Positioning

The arena leaves little room for recovery if hazards overlap. Control space using these movement rules:

  • Circle the outer perimeter: Move along the arena walls to pull linear attacks toward the perimeter, preserving the center for emergency escapes.
  • Never stop in corners: Boss rush hitboxes are broad enough to pin your character against adjacent walls, leaving you exposed to follow-up slams.
  • Bait mortar zones: When targeting reticles appear under you, pause momentarily to group the indicators in one spot, then sprint away to keep nearby walking lanes open.

Boss Attack Patterns and Dodge Windows

The Season 15 boss cycles through three primary attack types on Hell difficulty.

Linear Rush

The boss locks onto your trajectory and projects a red corridor across the arena floor before charging at high speed.

  • Response: Wait until the boss initiates forward momentum, then dash perpendicular to the red lane. Dashing early or running sideways without dashing will leave you inside the trailing hitbox.

Mortar Bombardment

The boss stops moving and fires artillery into the air, creating scattered red impact zones across the floor.

  • Response: Move in tight zigzag patterns to weave between circles while remaining within range of your automated sub-weapons. Do not sprint in straight lines across the map.

Radial Burst Waves

At fixed health breakpoints, the boss releases expanding projectile rings or homing clusters.

  • Response: Back away immediately to maximize distance. Projectile spacing widens as the wave travels outward, allowing you to walk through the gaps without burning a defensive dash.

In-Run Upgrade Priority

When selecting level-up upgrades, focus on stats that counter the boss's high defenses:

  1. Attack Power and Armor Penetration: Bosses carry high base armor on Hell difficulty. Flat damage multipliers and armor penetration prevent your automated weapons from dealing negligible chip damage.
  2. Movement Speed: Base movement speed cannot reliably outpace the boss's pursuit speed. Secure at least two movement speed perks.
  3. Cooldown Reduction: Faster cooldown cycles increase defensive shield uptime and accelerate missile barrages.
  4. Avoid On-Kill Perks: Passives that require minion kills or swarms to trigger provide no value during a solo boss encounter.

Handling the Enrage Phase (Sub-30% Health)

When the boss falls below 30% health, attack intervals shorten significantly. Do not use your dash or barrier ability offensively to chase extra damage. Maintain your perimeter rotation, allow your missiles and beam weapons to finish depleting the boss's health, and focus entirely on reading telegraphs.
