To stop failing dungeon runs in RAID: Shadow Legends, stop stacking multiple raw damage dealers and unbooked Legendary champions. Early wave wipes happen when frail attack champions fail to kill enemies in one turn and take unmitigated retaliation. To fix your roster, drop duplicate attackers and build a balanced five-champion lineup covering turn meter manipulation, defense reduction, single-nuker burst, wave control, and team sustain.

The Five Essential Roles for Dungeon Progression

A functional PvE team relies on utility and turn advantage rather than champion rarity. Instead of spreading gear across several damage dealers, focus your best offensive equipment on one dedicated nuker and fill the remaining four slots with supporting utility.

Why AoE Decrease Defense Outperforms Extra Attackers

Enemy armor reduces incoming raw damage significantly as you climb dungeon stages. Adding a second or third damage dealer only adds flat, unamplified hits against high armor pools.

An area-of-effect (AoE) 60% Decrease Defense debuff dramatically lowers enemy damage reduction. Applying this debuff before your primary nuker attacks allows a single starter champion—such as Kael or Elhain—to deal double or triple their base damage across the entire wave.

For early progression, farm the Rare champion Warmaiden from Campaign Stage 9 (The Deadlands). Her A3 ability applies a 60% AoE Decrease Defense. Booking her skill with duplicate campaign drops guarantees a 100% debuff placement chance without spending scarce Epic or Legendary Skill Tomes.

Turn Order and Speed Priority

Raw stats fail if your champions act in the wrong sequence. Tune your champion speeds using Speed primary-stat boots and Speed artifact sets so your team acts before the enemy wave in this exact order:

  1. Turn Meter Engine / Speed Buffer: Acts first to boost allied Turn Meters and place Increase Speed buffs.
  2. AoE Defense Debuffer: Acts second to land 60% Decrease Defense before your damage dealer strikes.
  3. Primary Nuker: Acts third to wipe or cripple the weakened enemy wave with their strongest AoE skill.
  4. Crowd Controller: Acts fourth to disable any surviving high-threat enemies before they take a turn.
  5. Healer / Support: Acts last to top off ally health, cast shields, or restore fallen champions.

When to Replace Early Rares

Do not bench fully booked, ascended Rare champions simply because you pulled an Epic or Legendary. Higher-rarity champions require Epic or Legendary Skill Tomes to lower their cooldowns and reach reliable effect chances.

An unbooked Legendary skill with a 75% debuff chance on a four-turn cooldown is less dependable than a fully booked Rare skill with a 100% chance on a three-turn cooldown. Keep your developed Rares in their assigned roles until you have the potions, ascension stars, and skill books required to make a higher-rarity replacement strictly more reliable.
