To beat the most disruptive Arena champions in RAID: Shadow Legends, draft mechanics that disable defensive triggers rather than relying on standard damage cleaves. High-tier defense setups stall battles through crowd control, automatic revives, damage redirection, and passive counterattacks. Winning requires bringing specific counters: Stoneskin gear, high Resistance cleansers, Block Revive finishers, buff strippers, and passive or skill lockout champions.

Countering Armanz the Magnificent

Armanz relies on stealing turn meter, applying Stuns, and turning key targets into Sheep to lock your entire team out of taking turns. Competing against him in a pure speed race is unreliable unless your turn-meter booster decisively outspeeds the opposing team.

  • Equip Stoneskin Artifacts: Place your primary cleanser or reviver in high-tier Stoneskin gear. Stoneskin prevents Armanz from landing hard crowd control or stealing turn meter on turn one, allowing your support champion to cleanse allies or reset the turn order.
  • Stack 500+ Resistance: If an opposing Armanz builds pure Speed rather than extreme Accuracy, high-Resistance builds can resist his Stun and Sheep debuffs.
  • Bring Reactive Passives: Use champions with interrupt passives that gain turn meter or trigger defensive responses when an enemy manipulates turn meter.

Neutralizing Taras the Fierce and Marichka the Unbreachable

Marichka cleanses debuffs automatically, boosts allied turn meter, places Intercept, and revives fallen allies with full turn meter. Taras gains damage scaling from all active buffs on the field and punishes attackers who land critical hits. Attacking this duo without a control plan allows Taras to wipe your team with counterattacks.

  1. Lock Out Passive Skills: Apply Block Passive Skills using champions like Ramantu Drakesblood. This disables Marichka's automatic cleanse and revive mechanics, making the rest of the team vulnerable.
  2. Reset Active Cooldowns: Use skill-lockout champions such as Warlord or Yumeko to delay Marichka's support abilities and prevent Taras from unleashing his main attack skills.
  3. Strip Active Buffs: Bring champions with high Accuracy or irresistible buff removal to strip Marichka's protective buffs, reducing Taras's damage scaling.
  4. Focus Marichka First: Eliminate Marichka before targeting Taras. If Marichka remains alive, any damage dealt to Taras will be undone by her revives.
  5. Limit Area-of-Effect Criticals: Avoid unfocused AoE attacks that trigger Taras's retaliatory passive.

Breaking Stall Cores: Duchess Lilitu and Ultimate Deathknight

Duchess Lilitu and Ultimate Deathknight (UDK) stall matches by absorbing and reducing damage. Duchess cuts incoming AoE damage via her passive, hides allies under Veil, and revives two fallen champions with Continuous Heal buffs. Ultimate Deathknight passively intercepts all single-target attacks aimed at his allies and shields his team.

  • Use Block Revive Against Duchess: Kill supporting threats using Block Revive attacks. Preventing fallen allies from returning permanently strips Duchess of her revive value.
  • Equip Ignore-Defense Sets: Standard AoE attacks deal heavily reduced damage against Duchess defenses. Use Savage or Lethal artifact sets alongside Decrease Defense debuffs to punch through her damage mitigation.
  • Bypass UDK With True AoE: Ultimate Deathknight only redirects single-target hits. Use true AoE damage dealers to damage the rest of his team directly.
  • Disable UDK's Redirection: Place a Block Passive Skills debuff on UDK to stop him from redirecting single-target hits, or apply Heal Reduction to limit his survivability as allies fall.

Stopping Sun Wukong and Mortu-Macaab

Sun Wukong and Mortu-Macaab create sudden momentum swings through passive triggers. Sun Wukong revives himself every three turns with 100% Turn Meter and health, cycling back into his buff strip and Sheep skills. Mortu-Macaab waits behind team shields until incoming hits unlock Peril, an attack that ignores Defense, Shields, and Unkillable while blocking revives.

Handling Sun Wukong

  • Deliver Block Revive Finishers: Finish Sun Wukong using champions with built-in Block Revive skills, such as Fenax, Inithwe Bloodtwin, or Rotos the Lost Groom. This removes him permanently.
  • Chain Crowd Control: If you lack Block Revive, keep Sun Wukong disabled with Stun, Freeze, or Provoke debuffs so he cannot cast his buff-stripping strike when his self-revive triggers.

Handling Mortu-Macaab

  • Avoid Multi-Hit and Weak Attacks: Every hit Mortu-Macaab takes gives him a chance to unlock Peril. Avoid casting multi-hit skills or low-damage AoE attacks while he is active.
  • Control Him With Lockouts: Keep Mortu-Macaab under hard crowd control (Stun, Sleep, Freeze) or reset his skill cooldowns so he cannot activate Peril even if his passive triggers.
  • Commit to Single-Hit Bursts: Do not whittle Mortu-Macaab down over several turns. Soften his team, then eliminate him from full health with a single, high-damage hit.
