In RAID: Shadow Legends, 20x summon events do not increase the base drop rates of Ancient Shards. Unless you are near your guaranteed pity threshold or stacking pulls with active tournament milestones, hold your Ancient Shards for 2x double-rate events or guaranteed fusion progress rather than spending them to chase featured heroes like Tin Woodman or Aria the Golden Hope.
How 20x Summon Multipliers Work
A 20x event does not grant a 20% flat chance to summon a featured champion, nor does it increase the likelihood of pulling a Legendary champion. In RAID: Shadow Legends, base drop rates determine rarity first. When you open an Ancient Shard, the game rolls to decide whether you receive a Rare, Epic, or Legendary champion based on standard odds.
The 20x multiplier only activates after the game determines the rarity:
- Base Rate Roll: The shard determines whether the drop is a Rare, Epic, or Legendary champion. A 20x event leaves this overall percentage unchanged.
- Featured Weighting: If the drop lands on a Legendary, the 20x multiplier increases the weight of featured champions (such as Tin Woodman or Aria the Golden Hope) relative to the rest of the standard pool.
If you open 50 Ancient Shards during a 20x window, you will still receive a standard volume of Rare champions. If no Legendary champion triggers from the base rate, the 20x multiplier provides no practical benefit for that pull.
Evaluating When to Pull Ancient Shards
Because 20x events do not increase baseline high-rarity drop rates, spending shards purely for featured heroes is rarely efficient for free-to-play or low-spending accounts. Use the following criteria to decide whether to spend or save:
| Decision Factor | Spend Shards on 20x | Save Shards for Other Events |
|---|---|---|
| Pity Status | You are close to your pity threshold and want a chance at the featured hero. | You are far from pity and cannot guarantee a Legendary drop. |
| Roster Needs | You already have a broad team and specifically need the spotlighted hero. | You need general Epic and Legendary champions for Faction Wars or Clan Boss. |
| Event Synergy | A concurrent Summon Rush or Champion Chase offers milestone rewards. | No active tournament or event offers secondary rewards for spending shards. |
Maximizing Non-Featured Drops
When opening shards in bulk, manage your inventory by preparing for common drops. Out of 50 Ancient Shards, the vast majority of pulls will yield Rare champions. Treat these extra Rare heroes as progression fodder to rank up your core Champions, or use specific duplicate Rares as skill-up books rather than treating them as wasted attempts.
Event Priority Order
- Guaranteed Fusions & Milestone Events: Save Ancient Shards to complete point thresholds during Fusion, Champion Chase, or Summon Rush events.
- 2x (Double Rate) Events: Prioritize these windows to double your base chance of obtaining Epic and Legendary champions overall.
- 20x Rate Events: Only participate if you have spare shard reserves, active event alignment, or a near-cap pity status.
