In RAID: Shadow Legends, manipulating status effects relies on strict rules regarding turn limits, stat checks, and active effect caps. To successfully extend ally buffs, steal opponent buffs, or spread debuffs across enemy waves, your team must meet specific Accuracy requirements and work within the game's hard caps.
Quick Mechanics Overview
| Action | Primary Trigger | Accuracy Check Required | Engine Limit / Cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extend Buffs | Active buff present on target ally | No | 10-turn maximum duration cap |
| Steal Buffs | Active buff present on target enemy | Yes (Caster Accuracy vs. Target Resistance) | Requires open buff space on caster |
| Spread Debuffs | Active debuff present on primary target | Yes (Checked individually per secondary target) | 10 total active effect icons per target |
How Buff Extension Works
Buff extension skill effects increase the duration of existing friendly status modifications.
- Turn Additions: Extension skills generally add one turn to all active buffs on the target ally (for example, taking a buff with 1 turn remaining up to 2 turns).
- The 10-Turn Cap: No buff can exceed a total duration of 10 turns. If an extension skill triggers on a buff already at 10 turns, the skill executes, but the duration remains capped at 10.
- Optimal Timing: Cast extension skills immediately after applying key stat increases—such as Increase Defense or Increase Attack—to ensure high uptime across long encounters like Clan Boss fights.
Rules for Stealing Enemy Buffs
Stealing a buff strips the active benefit from an opponent and transfers that exact effect onto your champion.
- Active Transfer Requirement: A buff can only be stolen if it is currently active on the enemy. Blocked or resisted buffs cannot be transferred.
- Accuracy vs. Resistance: Stealing is subject to standard stat checks. If your champion's Accuracy fails to overcome the enemy's Resistance, the steal fails: the buff stays on the opponent, and your champion gains nothing.
- Priority Targets: Focus steal abilities on high-impact defensive buffs such as Shield, Block Damage, or Unkillable to strip enemy protection while acquiring it for your own squad.
Rules for Spreading Debuffs
Spreading allows a champion to copy status ailments from a single primary target and apply them to secondary targets.
- Primary Target Requirement: The primary target must already have active debuffs. If the primary target is clean, the spread skill has no effects to copy.
- Independent Accuracy Checks: The initial debuff landing does not guarantee a successful spread. The game runs an independent Accuracy versus Resistance check for every copied debuff against every secondary enemy.
- The 10-Effect Limit: A target cannot hold more than 10 active buff or debuff icons at one time. If a spread skill attempts to place additional debuffs on an enemy already capped at 10 active effects, the new debuffs are blocked automatically regardless of your Accuracy stat.
