To establish a productive account in RAID: Shadow Legends, select Kael as your starter champion, rush him to Rank 6 (Level 60), purchase his complete masteries for 800 gems, and farm Stage 12-3 on Brutal difficulty. Focusing all early resources into this single champion creates a dedicated campaign farmer who can generate silver, level "food" champions, and secure early Clan Boss reward chests.
Starter Champion Choice
Kael provides the most versatile kit among the four starter champions because his skills handle both wave clearing and boss encounters.
| Starter Champion | Primary Role | Clan Boss Viability | Campaign Clear Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kael | Campaign Farmer / Poisoner | High (5% and 2.5% Poisons) | Fast (Turn Meter boost on kill) |
| Athel | Multi-Hitter / Debuffer | Moderate (25% Weaken debuff) | Fast (Self-buff and AoE) |
| Elhain | Pure Area-of-Effect Nuker | Low (No boss debuffs) | Fast (Dual AoE skills) |
| Galek | Single-Target / Defense Down | Low (Unreliable debuff chances) | Moderate (Longer AoE cooldown) |
Kael's second skill, Acid Rain, hits all enemies and refills his Turn Meter by 25% for each target killed, allowing him to cycle turns rapidly in campaign stages. His third skill (Disintegrate) inflicts two 5% Poison debuffs, while his default attack (A1) applies a 2.5% Poison debuff. Because Poison damage scales with the target's maximum health rather than your champion's attack stat, Kael can deal heavy damage to Clan Boss and dungeon bosses without requiring advanced gear.
Athel is a viable alternative due to her multi-hit default skill and Weaken debuff, whereas Elhain and Galek lack reliable percentage-based damage for early boss battles.
Rushing Your Starter to Rank 6 (Level 60)
Do not spread your leveling resources across multiple champions early on. A single Level 60 champion gains roughly triple the base stats of a Level 50 champion, providing enough survivability and damage to solo campaign stages.
- Summon and Buy Food: Pull common (1-star) and uncommon (2-star) champions from Mystery Shards, or buy them from the Market.
- Level Low-Rarity Champions: Level these 1-star and 2-star units in the campaign to use as rank-up fodder.
- Preserve Rare Champions: Save rare (blue) champions in your vault rather than sacrificing them as food, as many are required for permanent fusions or specific dungeon roles.
- Equip Login Gear: Equip Kael with the starter 4-star or 5-star Lifesteal artifact set granted by the new-player login calendar so he restores health with every attack.
Once Kael hits Level 60, progress through the Campaign until you reach Stage 12-3 on Brutal difficulty. Stage 12-3 offers the best balance of account experience, food leveling, and silver income. While Stage 12-6 awards slightly more raw champion experience, shields dropped from Stage 12-3 sell for significantly more silver than the boots dropped in 12-6.
Gem Spending Order
Spend your first 800 accumulated gems to purchase full masteries directly for Kael through his champion screen.
Unlocking masteries through Minotaur's Labyrinth is energy-inefficient until your team can consistently beat Stage 15. Running lower Minotaur stages costs substantially more energy in gem refills than the flat 800-gem unlock price. Purchasing Kael's masteries immediately unlocks Tier 6 options like Warmaster, which adds bonus damage based on the target's maximum health on hits.
Allocate subsequent gems in this order:
- Gem Mine (1,500 Gems Total): Unlock and upgrade the Gem Mine to Level 3. It repays the investment after approximately three months of daily activity and generates profit thereafter.
- Sparring Pit Slots: Unlock the training slots to passively gain champion experience over time. Do not spend extra gems to upgrade the slots' leveling speed.
- Energy Refills: Save all remaining gems to purchase 40-gem full energy refills during events and tournaments.
Gear Priorities: Primary Stats Over Set Bonuses
Prioritize correct main stats on bottom-row gear (Boots, Chestplate, and Gloves) rather than forcing complete artifact set bonuses with inferior stats.
- Boots: Use Speed as the primary stat. Moving faster allows champions to take additional turns and cycle cooldowns before enemies strike.
- Gloves: Use Crit Rate % as the primary stat on your campaign farmer until you reach 85% to 100% total Crit Rate.
- Chestplate: Use ATK % for campaign wave clearing, or HP % and DEF % for support champions.
- Upgrade Cap: Stop upgrading 3-star and 4-star gear at Level 12. Upgrades from Level 12 to 16 cost millions of silver that should be reserved for permanent 5-star and 6-star equipment.
Clan Boss Setup
Join an active clan immediately to use your daily Clan Boss keys against the Demon Lord. Daily reward chests from this boss are the main source of Sacred Shards, Void Shards, and skill tomes.
Build your initial team around Kael's Poison debuffs. Farm Campaign Stage 9 (The Deadlands) to acquire the rare champion Warmaiden. Her third skill provides a reliable area-of-effect Decrease Defense debuff. Support Kael and Warmaiden with champions who bring a Decrease Attack debuff to reduce incoming boss damage, alongside defensive buffs such as Increase Defense or Ally Protection to keep your team alive across longer turn counts.
