On a free-to-play (F2P) account in RAID: Shadow Legends, save your Sacred Shards for Fusion Summon Rush events. If your account is in the early game and cannot yet complete fusions, spend them during 2x Sacred drop rate events instead to build a functional champion roster. Never open Sacred Shards outside of active summoning events.

Prioritize Fusion Summon Rush Events

Guaranteed champion fusions offer the most dependable progression path for budget accounts. Unlike random shard openings, completing a fusion secures a specific Legendary champion capable of clearing difficult stages in Hydra, Doom Tower, and Cursed City.

Sacred Shards provide the highest point value in Summon Rush events because scoring is tied to shard rarity rather than the rarity of the summoned champion:

  • Sacred Shard: 500 points
  • Void Shard: 120 points
  • Ancient Shard: 20 points
  • Mystery Shard: 1 point

Summon Rush milestones generally require between 2,500 and 3,500 points to secure necessary fusion fragments or event Epics. Stockpiling four to seven Sacred Shards allows you to hit these milestones immediately without burning thousands of Mystery Shards or depleting your Void Shard inventory.

When to Pull During 2x Sacred Events

Brand-new accounts face a progression bottleneck where hoarding shards for weeks stalls development. If you cannot yet farm Stage 20 Dungeons or clear top Clan Boss chests, you lack the energy reserves and preparation needed to complete a full fusion. During this stage, open your Sacred Shards during 2x Sacred events.

Under standard conditions, Sacred Shards have a 6% chance of summoning a Legendary Champion and a 94% chance of summoning an Epic Champion. A 2x event doubles the Legendary rate to 12% and reduces the Epic rate to 88%. This provides two immediate benefits:

  1. Doubled Legendary Rates: A 12% chance offers practical odds to obtain top carries such as Septimus, Duchess Lilitu, or Teodor the Savant.
  2. Core Epic Acquisition: High-impact Epics—such as Deacon Armstrong, Miscreated Monster, and Vogoth—fill crucial support, crowd control, and debuff roles across Minotaur, Dragon, and Spider dungeons.

Stopping Point: Once your roster reliably farms Stage 20 dungeons and collects top chests from Nightmare Clan Boss, stop pulling on 2x events. Shift entirely to saving shards for fusion events.

Tracking the Sacred Mercy System

RAID: Shadow Legends uses a cumulative pity system on Sacred Shards to prevent extended streaks without a Legendary summon. Track your Sacred pulls manually in a spreadsheet or notebook so you know when you enter the bonus threshold:

Shard PullBase Legendary RateAdded Mercy BonusTotal Legendary Rate
Shards 1–126.0%+0.0%6.0%
Shard 136.0%+2.0%8.0%
Shard 146.0%+4.0%10.0%
Shard 156.0%+6.0%12.0%
Shard 206.0%+16.0%22.0%

The mercy bonus adds 2% per pull starting on shard 13 without a Legendary. Once your counter reaches 10 or 11 pulls without a Legendary, hold remaining shards for a mandatory Summon Rush milestone or a designated Extra Legendary event.

Progressive Chance and Extra Legendary Events

Special summoning events carry specific mathematical conditions that determine whether an F2P account should participate:

  • Progressive Chance (15x / 25x): These events do not increase the base 6% Legendary summon rate. They only boost the chance that a pulled Legendary matches the featured champion. Chasing targeted champions with small shard reserves usually yields standard Epics and leaves you short on shards for future fusions. Skip these events on an F2P account.
  • Extra Legendary (1+1): Summoning a Legendary during a 1+1 event awards a second random Legendary champion for free. Only pull during this event if your mercy counter is already at shard 12 or higher. Opening shards at low mercy odds risks spending your entire stockpile on Epics without triggering the bonus.

Sustaining Shard Income Through Clan Boss

Maintaining an ongoing stock of Sacred Shards requires farming the Demon Lord Clan Boss daily. High-level Clan Boss reward chests represent the primary recurring source of Sacred Shards for F2P players:

  • Nightmare (NM): The top-tier Ultimate Chest has a chance to drop Sacred Shards and High-Rank Skill Tomes.
  • Ultra-Nightmare (UNM): The Transcendent Chest provides the highest Sacred Shard drop rate in the game.

Join a Clan that defeats Nightmare and Ultra-Nightmare Demon Lord daily. Defeating the boss awards two chests per difficulty, providing four top-tier reward chests each day. A stable UNM/NM team generates an average of 8 to 12 Sacred Shards per month, providing enough resources to clear every Fusion Summon Rush milestone.
