In the final campaign mission of Saints Row: The Third, you must make a mandatory choice: split off to rescue Shaundi or pursue your rival, Killbane.
Your choice dictates the objective, gameplay focus, and narrative ending of the final mission, but it does not penalize your post-game progress. Whichever path you choose, you retain all acquired properties, businesses, district control, and respect levels when returning to open-world exploration after the credits.
| Criteria | Save Shaundi | Kill Killbane |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Focus | Rescuing team members | Eliminating Syndicate leadership |
| Gameplay Style | Defensive and rescue maneuvers | Aggressive pursuit and combat |
| Story Outcome | Prioritizes Saints loyalty and crew survival | Secures personal vengeance against Killbane |
| Post-Game Assets | Retains all properties, cash, and progress | Retains all properties, cash, and progress |
Save Shaundi Path
Choosing to save Shaundi shifts your immediate mission goal from revenge to team protection.
- Narrative Focus: This route emphasizes crew loyalty. You abandon the immediate kill on Killbane to prevent a critical loss within the Third Street Saints' inner circle.
- Gameplay Dynamics: The mission sequence centers on defensive positioning and rapid rescue objectives to secure your allies.
- Result: You preserve your team's survival and resolve the final crisis through defensive action.
Kill Killbane Path
Choosing to pursue Killbane keeps your focus entirely on eliminating the Syndicate's top leader.
- Narrative Focus: This route prioritizes personal retribution and total tactical dominance over rival factions, treating Killbane's death as the definitive conclusion to the gang war.
- Gameplay Dynamics: The gameplay shifts toward high-intensity offensive pursuit and a direct confrontation with Killbane.
- Result: You dismantle the Syndicate leadership permanently, though you sacrifice the immediate rescue attempt for your crew.
How to Experience Both Endings
The game locks your decision onto your current save file once confirmed. It does not allow you to toggle ending states retrospectively after completing the campaign.
To view both ending sequences on a single playthrough, manually create a separate save file immediately before committing to either objective during the final mission. After completing your first choice and viewing the credits, reload that manual save to select the alternate path. Otherwise, seeing the second ending requires starting a new campaign playthrough.

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
This saved me time in the early game.
