To clear large groups of hostile NPCs when outnumbered in Saints Row: The Third, break your enemy's line-of-sight and retreat into a narrow corridor, alleyway, or area with explosive hazards. Pulling aggressive AI combatants away from cover funnels them into predictable movement paths where area-of-effect weapons and environmental explosions can eliminate whole squads efficiently.
How to Lure and Funnel Enemies
When enemies occupy strong cover or entrench themselves behind choke points, forcing them to reposition prevents you from taking unnecessary incoming damage.
- Break line-of-sight: Move behind solid cover or turn a corner into a nearby alleyway or narrow building passage.
- Maintain aggressive pursuit: Keep moving steadily without putting too much distance between yourself and your pursuers. If you run too far away, enemies lose interest and reset back to their original spawn locations.
- Set up the funnel: Stop at the far end of the bottleneck. As enemies round the corner, they clump together along a single pathing line, making them easy targets for direct fire or explosives.
Be aware of your surroundings during a lure. Focusing entirely on pulling enemies into a bottleneck can leave you exposed if flanking paths exist or if long-range threats lock onto you from behind.
Using Environmental Hazards for Multi-Kills
Steelport contains red explosive barrels and fuel tanks placed near walls and enemy reinforcement paths. Luring squads next to these objects conserves ammunition and clears waves rapidly.
- Target the Hazard First: Shoot red barrels or fuel tanks once enemies group up next to them, rather than firing directly at individual targets.
- Capitalize on Blast Staggers: Enemies surviving the initial blast suffer a brief stagger or stun animation. Use this momentary window to clean up survivors with melee finishers or high-damage secondary weapons before they resume firing.
Handling Reinforcement Waves and Threat Priorities
Enemy reinforcement waves typically arrive in vehicles or emerge from designated drop points. Rather than staying in open ground when a wave spawns, position yourself near their approach path to intercept them before they can spread out.
If you encounter specialized units while funneling a wave, prioritize your targets based on damage output:
- High-Priority Targets: Eliminate enemies armed with heavy weapons, such as rocket launchers or machine guns, as well as snipers stationed at a distance.
- Low-Priority Targets: Leave basic fodder units grouped together in the bottleneck until high-damage threats are neutralized, then finish off the cluster with a single explosion or explosive weapon.

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Saints Row: The Third articles next.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
