To clear Level 613 in Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle, create unbroken horizontal bands of a single matching sand color across the full width of the board while keeping total sand height below the top ceiling line.
Incoming pieces disintegrate into loose sand granules upon impact with the floor or another piece, flowing downward along slopes until they settle into empty pockets. A line clear requires continuous, edge-to-edge connectivity of one color from the left boundary to the right boundary. When a line clears, that dissolved layer allows the sand above to drop into the newly opened space.
Leveling Slopes and Controlling Sand Dispersion
A primary cause of failure in Level 613 is dropping shapes repeatedly into the center of the board. Stacking pieces in the center builds steep mounds that deflect incoming sand toward the outer borders, scattering grains across planned color paths.
- Target lower valleys: Drop incoming shapes into the dips between existing mounds. Filling low points flattens the board and reduces lateral splashing.
- Cap steep summits: When a high peak forms, place wide, horizontally oriented pieces across the top of the mound. This forces the sand to distribute evenly into neighboring dips.
- Avoid center stacking: Keep the floor baseline as level as possible to make full-width color connections easier to assemble.
Board Placement and Color Clustering
Level 613 delivers mixed-color tetromino shapes in rapid succession. Dropping matching colors in isolated pockets across the board clogs the lower playfield. Designate specific sections of the board for specific colors to keep paths organized.
| Placement Zone | Color Priority | Board Role |
|---|---|---|
| Left Wall | Dominant base color | Anchors the start of the horizontal line and protects corners from loose debris. |
| Center Basin | Secondary or transitional color | Absorbs multi-colored pieces and fills valleys to create an even surface. |
| Right Wall | Dominant match or bridging color | Completes the connection from the center to the right boundary to execute the clear. |
When a dropped piece matches an established base color on one side of the board, drop it directly against that existing pile. Once matching sand spans two-thirds of the board width, prioritize placing that same color on the opposite wall to finish the line from the bottom up.
Preventing Ceiling Overflows
A run ends immediately if any sand rests above the upper red dashed line beyond a brief settle window. Because board space shrinks as sand accumulates, tall vertical peaks are the main hazard in Level 613.
- Steer inward from outer walls: Sand piles higher along the edges because boundary walls prevent runoff. Drop pieces one to two grid spaces away from the wall so excess sand rolls naturally toward the edge instead of stacking straight up.
- Rotate tall pieces horizontally: When placing blocks in the upper third of the board, always rotate vertical shapes into flat, horizontal orientations before releasing them. This spreads granular mass across several columns instead of creating an instant failure spike.
Recovering from Misplaced Sand
If a mismatched color falls onto an active line, do not attempt to bury the mistake under unrelated sand. Burying rogue grains traps them at the bottom of the board and prevents future clears.
- Clear the layer directly above: Focus on forming an edge-to-edge line with the sand sitting directly on top of the misplaced grains.
- Shift rogue grains downward: When the upper layer clears, the ceiling drops and shifts the trapped grains downward, where they can scatter into empty side troughs or integrate into a lower clear.
- Check the piece preview queue: If the exact color needed to bridge an open gap is not available, place the current piece onto an alternate color pile rather than dropping mismatched sand onto the unfinished line.

The tips are practical and easy to follow.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This guide answered the exact question I had.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle articles next.
