To beat Level 624 in Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle, build a flat horizontal base across the bottom of the grid, separate incoming sand colors toward opposite side walls, and trigger wall-to-wall line clears before piles reach the top boundary.

A line clear occurs only when a single color forms an unbroken horizontal band connecting the left wall to the right wall. Because incoming tetromino shapes break into loose sand grains that roll down slopes, uncontrolled drops will mix colors and block your clear paths.

Build a Stable, Level Base

Avoid stacking your opening pieces into a pyramid in the center column. Central mounds cause newly dropped sand to roll outward toward the walls, scattering colors and creating uneven terrain.

  1. Anchor the lower corners: Direct your initial blocky shapes toward the bottom-left and bottom-right edges to form flat retaining barriers.
  2. Fill the central gap: Place flat or horizontal pieces between the corner anchors to level out the floor.
  3. Avoid creating deep hollows: Do not execute an early line clear if it leaves a deep pit in the grid, as subsequent drops will slide into the depression and contaminate your next color layer.

Separate Colors and Handle Split Pieces

Level 624 frequently drops multi-colored blocks that split into granular sand upon landing. Allowing mixed colors to settle across the center disrupts horizontal connectivity.

Split-Color PiecesDivide along impact slopes and slide outwardRotate shapes before landing so secondary colors slide toward side walls
Capping GrainsStrays settle on top of nearly finished bandsClear the top obstruction first so the bottom band reconnects under gravity

Designate general drop zones for primary colors, such as steering warm tones toward the left wall and cool tones toward the right wall. When handling split-color tetrominoes, rotate the piece so the dominant color faces its designated collection zone before impact. Never drop a split piece onto an open, flat floor where both colors will spill into each other.

If a stray color lands on an unfinished line, do not abandon the row. Clear the obstructing upper sand first; once the stray grains dissolve, the sand above and below will settle downward and reconnect the original color path.

Control Height and Trigger Wall-to-Wall Clears

The stage ends in failure if stationary sand crosses the ceiling line at the top of the grid. Because loose grains slide and pile up unpredictably, uneven peaks can cross the threshold unexpectedly.

  • Maintain the upper threshold: Keep your highest sand peak below the upper third of the playing field.
  • Prioritize height over color matching: If sand stacks close to the top boundary, immediately clear whatever horizontal path is closest to completion rather than saving colors for larger combos.
  • Stop fast-dropping near the top: Let blocks descend at regular speed when the board is high so you can guide them into low crevices.
  • Saturate the full line: Ensure trigger pieces contain sufficient sand volume to span the entire gap from wall to wall, as thin single-grain threads can break apart as the sand settles.

When a completed color band dissolves, all sand resting above it drops down under gravity. If you stack a consolidated band of a second color directly on top of your primary target, the collapse will drop that secondary band straight to the floor, triggering an immediate follow-up clear that lowers the overall board height.
