To access the secret Backrooms Easter egg in Sky: Children of the Light, enter the seasonal Cackling Crab area during the Days of Mischief event and drop through a hidden seam in the lower cave floor. Reaching this area does not require a special cape during the event, but it does require navigating past the standard map boundary.

How to Reach the Cackling Crab

The entrance route starts on the ground floor of the Vault of Knowledge.

  1. Enter the Secret Area: Head behind the spawn platform on the Vault's ground floor and slip through the narrow wall crack. During Days of Mischief, an event guide NPC stands by the portal to admit all players freely, bypassing the usual Office Cape requirement.
  2. Access the Event Cavern: Walk through the office building out toward the rooftop or approach the bubbling cauldron portal to warp directly into the Cackling Crab.
  3. Descend into the Deep Corridors: Move past the main social space and central brewing pots, heading down the rock ramps into the lowest cavern tunnels.

Finding the Backrooms Drop Point

The Backrooms area sits beneath the normal map geometry of the Cackling Crab. There is no standard interaction prompt or doorway leading inside.

What to Expect and How to Exit

The Easter egg replaces the cavern's dark stone with beige wallpaper, stained carpeting, and glowing ceiling panels accompanied by a steady fluorescent hum.

  • Safety and Rewards: The area contains no hostile dark crabs or Dark Dragons. Exploring the maze awards no Wax, Winged Light, or exclusive cosmetics.
  • Wayfinding: The hallways use repeating right angles and identical dead ends. Dropping placeable props such as torches, lanterns, or plushies at intersections helps mark visited paths.
  • Flight Limits: Avoid flying repeatedly into the low ceilings to prevent getting wedged in boundary collisions.
  • Leaving the Area: The entrance gap sits high above the maze ceiling, making retracing your steps upward impractical. To leave, open the expression menu and select the Home or Aviary Village icon to warp out.
