How to Safely Complete the Dark Dragon Hug

The Dark Dragon (Krill) community objective requires triggering a close-proximity encounter or "hug" without permanently losing Winged Light. While wild Krill in the Golden Wasteland attack on sight, event-specific encounters offer ways to mitigate light loss.

Preparation Checklist

• Elder Masks: Equip an Isle, Prairie, or Valley Elder Mask to absorb a direct Krill blow without shedding Winged Light.
• Event Spells: Apply Krill or Crab repellent spells, or use size-altering Mischief potions from the cauldron to adjust hitboxes and flight handling.
• Partner Flight: Form a two-player hand-holding flight. If the lead flyer draws aggro, the trailing player can deep-honk immediately after an evasive drop to refill depleted wing energy.
• Support Props: Place fire props or shared spaces near vantage points so players can recharge quickly after breaking target lock.

Executing the Encounter

1. Fly into the Dark Dragon's blue spotlight until the beam turns solid red.
2. Maintain position briefly to register the targeted encounter.
3. Immediately drop below its underbelly or dart close behind its tail section before the lunge completes.
4. Break line of sight behind cave walls or terrain outcroppings if the attack animation does not disengage. In designated Mischief event spaces, modified Krill knock players backward rather than stripping Winged Light directly.

Interacting with apparitions across the Cackling Crab cavern contributes narrative discovery progress toward the community tally. To trigger each vignette, light the red candles placed beside the idle ghost and wait for the silent animation to conclude.

The boiling green cauldron in the center of the cavern functions as a recurring objective site for collective currency and milestone progress.

• Clear Dark Growth: Burn the creeping dark plants along the rim and pop floating dark bubbles to fuel the brew.
• Collect Boiling Rewards: Gather event currency pieces that shoot out when the cauldron reaches its boiling peak.
• Crab Mechanics: Stepping directly into the brew applies random transformations. If turned into a dark crab, use the charge-and-flip ability to overturn other crabs or smash cracked floor grates.
• Clear Curse Webs: Station a torch or fire prop along the rim so transformed players can quickly burn away lingering web obstacles.
