To get the most power out of the familiar system in Slayer Legend, equip your highest-rarity companion in the primary slot for direct combat scaling, fill secondary slots with role-specific stats, and use spare growth materials to level bench units for account-wide passive bonuses.
Slot Management and Deployment Setups
The familiar interface provides an active loadout alongside a permanent collection book. Unlocking slots requires clearing specific stage thresholds and account level milestones. Once unlocked, each slot serves a distinct role in your build:
- Primary Slot: Place your highest-tier familiar here. This position delivers the highest direct combat contribution, applying active percentage multipliers to basic stats like Attack and HP.
- Secondary Slots: Assign auxiliary companions that offer supportive utility, including Critical Damage, Boss Damage, and HP recovery.
- Farming Roster: For standard 4-mob or 18-mob wave clearing, deploy familiars offering flat Attack bonuses and speed improvements to quickly wipe out enemies before they reach your character.
- Boss and Promotion Roster: For promotion trials and high-tier dungeons, swap in companions focused squarely on Boss Damage %, Critical Damage, and defensive stats like damage reduction.
Familiar Upgrade Pathways
Upgrading familiars scales both their deployed battle stats and the passive perks granted by your overall collection.
| Progression Step | Primary Requirement | Core Benefit | Practical Strategy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base Leveling | Familiar Growth Stones | Flat Attack and HP increases | Raise your main carry first, then spread low levels across the bench |
| Tier Breakthrough | Duplicate Familiars or Shards | Raised level caps and extra passive perks | Reserve breakthrough materials for your highest-rarity core units |
| Mastery Thresholds | Cumulative Roster Level | Account-wide percentage multipliers | Upgrade low-tier bench creatures to hit cheap milestone targets |
Resource Progression Priority
Because upgrade stones and companion shards are limited, spend resources in three disciplined phases:
- Invest in a primary carry: Dedicate the bulk of your materials to your highest-rarity familiar until it reaches a temporary breakthrough limit. This companion provides the bulk of your active combat scaling.
- Hit low-tier mastery milestones: Inactive bench companions still contribute to your Slayer's total power through cumulative collection bonuses. Leveling low-tier familiars through their early levels requires very few Growth Stones but triggers valuable global stat milestones.
- Avoid over-investing in secondary units: Keep secondary companions at functional baseline levels until your lead familiar is fully capped. Only push high-level upgrades on auxiliary units once your primary carry no longer has an immediate, affordable upgrade path.

Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
Good guide for Slayer Legend players. The strategy part was useful.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
This saved me time in the early game.
