Every hero in Soul Knight relies on a specific core mechanic—such as invulnerability windows, kill-based cooldown resets, or summon positioning—to survive dungeon rooms and sustain damage. To maximize your run efficiency, execute each hero's signature skill cycle according to the rules below.
Frontline Fighters: Knight, Paladin, and Berserker
- Knight: Activating your primary dual-wield skill doubles your damage output, but it also consumes energy at twice the normal rate. Pair a high-cost burst weapon with a zero-energy melee weapon or rifle. Activate the skill only when you have a clear line of sight on high-priority targets, and switch to your zero-cost secondary whenever your energy falls below 20 percent.
- Paladin: Energy Shield grants complete damage immunity while converting every incoming bullet into weapon energy. Instead of retreating behind terrain, walk directly into dense bullet swarms while the shield is active to fully replenish your energy reserve and close into point-blank shotgun range.
- Berserker: The Rage skill sharply reduces weapon attack intervals. Pair this skill with fast melee weapons such as the Meat or high-pellet shotguns to clear dense projectile walls and burst down targets at close range. Avoid slow-charging weapons like railguns during this cycle.
High-Mobility Evaders: Rogue, Assassin, and Werewolf
These three heroes rely on precise timing to exploit invulnerability frames (i-frames), skill resets, and health thresholds.
| Hero | Signature Mechanic | Core Mistake to Avoid | Combat Approach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rogue | Post-roll critical strike bonus | Rolling backward away from targets | Roll horizontally through bullet waves to land guaranteed critical hits at close range. |
| Assassin | Kill-based cooldown resets | Striking high-health elites on the initial dash | Eliminate low-health minions first to refresh the dash counter up to four consecutive times. |
| Werewolf | Full heal when transforming at low health | Activating the skill while health remains high | Let armor break and trigger the skill below 20 percent health to restore your full health bar on hit. |
Zone Controllers: Alchemist, Engineer, and Wizard
- Alchemist: While thrown poison flasks clear distant rooms, deploying all three flasks directly under a boss's hit box stacks poison, slow debuffs, and damage ticks simultaneously. Release the volley at point-blank range, then kite backward while the stacked debuffs deplete the target.
- Engineer: Deploy the Gun Turret behind environmental pillars or adjacent to doorways rather than out in the open. The turret tracks targets around corners, pulling enemy aggro while keeping you safe from direct fire, lasers, and explosive rounds.
- Wizard: The Lightning skill chains between targets and interrupts attack animations. Hold the activation until high-threat enemies, such as snipers or heavy shotgunners, begin their wind-up animations. The shock cancels their attack entirely and creates an opening to eliminate them safely.
Summoners and Turret Casters: Elf, Necromancer, and Druid
- Elf: Entering Focus Mode spawns protective vines that absorb exactly one instance of incoming damage. Defeating any enemy while rooted immediately regrows the vines. Prioritize low-health minions to maintain constant vine uptime while firing uninterrupted shots at tougher targets.
- Necromancer: Tag tough enemies or bosses with Alien Flay, which spawns ghost hands whenever the target takes damage. Equip rapid-fire weapons, shotguns, or multi-projectile staffs to maximize hit frequency. This rapidly generates an army of summons to overwhelm the target and block stray projectiles.
- Druid: Dual wolves draw enemy aggression and act as physical shields. After summoning your wolves, reposition yourself 90 degrees away from the boss. The enemy will direct its main firing cones toward the summons, leaving your line of fire clear.
Specialized Utility: Taoist, Airbender, and Miner
- Taoist: The Bagua skill forms an octagonal barrier that deflects bullets and buffs elemental damage. Hold the ability until elite enemies or bosses fire heavy bullet rings, then cast Bagua to redirect the entire volley back into the enemy group.
- Airbender: Triggering the hidden Kamehameha beam requires a specific attack sequence. Execute two bare-hand strikes, tap the skill without charging, execute six more bare-hand strikes, and then release a fully charged skill cast. This fires a large energy beam across the room without consuming weapon energy.
- Miner: Tunneling underground grants invulnerability and lets you bypass solid obstacles. When trapped by dense bullet patterns or environmental hazards, burrow through the danger and resurface directly beneath priority targets to drop stunning debris bombs.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Soul Knight articles next.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
This guide answered the exact question I had.
