To survive deep floor progression in Soul Knight's endless mode, The Matrix of the Lord of Evil, you must keep your weapon Pressure Levels equal to or above the current floor index, maintain dedicated melee projectile deflection, and rotate invulnerability skills before clearing combat rooms.

How Pressure Level Scaling Works

As you complete biome sets in the Matrix of the Lord of Evil, the ambient Pressure Level increases. This mechanic inflates enemy maximum health, movement speed, projectile velocity, and attack damage.

If your equipped weapons fall behind the ambient Pressure Level of the floor, your damage suffers steep reduction penalties. High-rarity weapons with low pressure values will deal negligible chip damage against normal enemies and bosses. Long-term progression requires treating your weapon loadout dynamically rather than relying on early-floor equipment.

Weapon Maintenance and Upgrades

Each weapon displays an individual Pressure Level indicator. To prevent damage decay, keep this number matching or exceeding the current stage's pressure index.

Gear Selection Priorities

  • Upgrade Thresholds: Visit Weapon Merchants to upgrade your primary offensive weapon whenever it lags three to five levels behind the floor index.
  • Fallback Weapons: If you run low on coins, switch to high-tier native floor drops matching the current biome's pressure level.
  • Status Effects: Prioritize weapons with high critical strike rates or percentage-based freeze and stun effects. Crowd control remains effective regardless of enemy health scaling.

Projectile Defense and Melee Deflection

Passive dodging is unreliable at extreme depths due to accelerated projectile speeds and screen-filling bullet patterns. You must dedicate at least one gear slot to active projectile destruction.

  • Melee Deflection: Equip rapid-swinging melee weapons (such as Meat, Laser Sword, or Mo Dao) alongside the buff that allows melee weapons to bounce bullets. This creates a defensive perimeter and redirects incoming fire back into enemy clusters.
  • Defensive Swapping: Keep defensive tools like the Shield in your off-hand. Tap the weapon-switch button to destroy projectile waves, then switch back to offensive firing.
  • Hazard Immunity: Select buffs granting immunity to traps and collision damage. In crowded rooms, elite enemy knockback can shove you into environmental hazards for lethal damage spikes.

Character Selection and Skill Rotation

Deep floor survival favors heroes with invulnerability frames (i-frames) over characters with large raw health pools, as high-pressure projectile hits can deplete shields instantly.

  • Paladin (1st Skill – Energy Shield): Converts incoming damage into energy. This absorbs heavy bullet patterns and provides a safe window to reposition or swing melee deflectors.
  • Rogue (1st Skill – Dodge): Provides frequent, short-cooldown invulnerability frames and guarantees critical strikes immediately after rolling.
  • Assassin (1st Skill – Dark Blade): Grants invulnerability and resets cooldown upon scoring a kill, allowing you to eliminate priority targets across crowded rooms without taking damage.

Never enter an uncleared combat chamber while your defensive skill is on cooldown. Wait near entrance corridors or behind indestructible terrain until your invulnerability skill is fully charged.

Room Navigation and Boss Pacing

Minimize attrition by controlling engagement pacing across every floor:

  1. Clear the Entrance: Secure the immediate area around the doorway upon entering a combat room to establish a safe retreat point.
  2. Eliminate Summoners: Target summoner units first to prevent enemies from overcrowding the room.
  3. Neutralize Piercing Attacks: Defeat laser, explosive, and railgun champions next, as their attacks bypass standard melee bullet deflection. Break line of sight using solid walls to avoid snipers.
  4. Pace Boss Fights: Treat Matrix boss fights as endurance encounters. Maintain continuous melee deflection, rely on safe chip damage, and avoid aggressive positioning that compromises your cover. Conserving revives for later milestones takes priority over clear speed.
