In Soul Legion: Idle RPG, activate faction bonds by deploying a set number of heroes from the same faction or thematic archetype into your active squad. Matching these hero affiliations triggers global passive stat percentage increases to Attack, Defense, and HP across all deployed units in combat.
To set up a bond, open the hero selection screen and drag characters into your formation slots. Observe the on-screen bond indicators to confirm when your current squad composition reaches the required hero count threshold for activation.
Squad Formation and Split-Bonds
Activating a faction bond should not come at the expense of a functional team structure. Every active squad requires a practical balance of combat roles, including frontline defenders, damage dealers, and support units.
When building a team, use these strategies to balance role coverage with faction bonuses:
- Core Unit Alignment: Select your two strongest core heroes first, then fill the remaining squad slots with units matching their factions to maximize stat multipliers.
- 3-Hero Split-Bonds: If your available hero pool cannot form a single six-hero faction without sacrificing a dedicated tank or support, deploy two separate three-hero faction groups. This provides two distinct passive stat boosts while keeping essential combat roles intact.
- Formation Checking: Keep frontline tank units positioned in front of backline damage dealers. Faction bond stat multipliers will not prevent rapid defeats if fragile backline units are exposed to direct enemy attacks.
Managing Investment in Bonded Heroes
Upgrade materials—such as hero shards, advanced gear, gold, and experience points—should not be distributed equally across every hero used for bond activation.
- Core Heroes: Fully commit rare upgrade materials, high-tier gear, and experience to your primary damage dealers and top-tier support units.
- Bond Utility Heroes: If a character is deployed solely to hit a faction count threshold, limit their level and equipment investment to the minimum required for them to survive the initial stage engagement.
- Progression Focus: Stick to a single main faction synergy or split-bond setup during early stage progression. Avoid leveling up extra heroes across multiple factions until your roster expands through gacha summons.
Trade-offs and Boss Resistance Constraints
While passive faction bonds provide substantial stat multipliers, strictly enforcing higher-tier bond requirements can limit tactical flexibility during difficult stage pushes.
- Utility vs. Raw Stats: Activating the highest tier of a single faction bond may require swapping out non-synergized heroes that possess vital utility skills, such as localized stuns or team heals. Evaluate whether flat stat percentage gains outweigh the loss of essential crowd control or healing capabilities before committing to a rigid lineup.
- Boss Encounter Resistances: Certain boss stages feature elemental or faction-specific damage resistances. If an encounter negates your main faction's offensive damage type, adjust your squad formation by switching to alternative split-bonds or non-bonded utility heroes.
