Building a full Geonosian squad gives players one of the most efficient early-to-mid-game investments in Star Wars™: Galaxy of Heroes. The five-character Dark Side squad consists of Geonosian Brood Alpha, Geonosian Spy, Sun Fac, Geonosian Soldier, and Poggle the Lesser. At Gear 12, this team secures entry into competitive guilds by clearing the Wat Tambor Special Mission in Dark Side Geonosis Territory Battles, unlocks Padmé Amidala in the "Aggressive Negotiations" event, and anchors competitive early-game fleets.

Squad Farming Locations and Assembly

You can assemble four of the five Geonosians early from shipments and campaign nodes without slowing down your gear farming:

  • Poggle the Lesser: Galactic War Store and Hard nodes.
  • Sun Fac: Fleet Arena Store and Guild Activity Store.
  • Geonosian Soldier: Fleet Arena Store and early Cantina Energy nodes.
  • Geonosian Spy: Fleet Arena Store, Cantina Energy nodes, and Guild Activity Store.
  • Geonosian Brood Alpha: Cantina Node 8-D.

While Brood Alpha sits on a high-tier Cantina node, unlocking him is mandatory. Brood Alpha's leadership ability grants Hive Mind, which activates the entire team's combat engine.

Hive Mind Mechanics and Team Roles

Under Brood Alpha's Hive Mind, all Geonosians share and equalize their Health and Protection pools whenever an ally takes damage. When any Geonosian uses an ability on their turn, every other Geonosian ally assists with basic attacks. Brood Alpha also summons a sixth squad member, the Geonosian Brute, who taunts automatically to absorb burst damage and can be resummoned if defeated.

CharacterRolePrimary Battlefield Function
Geonosian Brood AlphaLeader / SupportActivates Hive Mind, equalizes squad health, and summons the taunting Brute.
Geonosian SpyAttackerDelivers massive burst damage with Silent Strike and gains Stealth.
Sun FacTankTaunts, dispels enemy buffs on basic attacks, and inflicts Blind.
Geonosian SoldierAttackerGains bonus Turn Meter on critical hits and calls targeted assists.
Poggle the LesserSupportGrants team-wide Offense Up, cleanses debuffs, and inflicts Ability Block.

Because basic attacks trigger with every ally action, Sun Fac strips enemy Taunt and Retribution buffs continuously, while Poggle reliably shuts down enemy special abilities with Ability Block.

Modding Priorities

Mod each Geonosian to support Hive Mind's shared survivability and Spy's single-target damage:

  • Geonosian Brood Alpha (Speed and Health sets): Focus on maximum Speed secondary stats with Health and Protection primary stats. Brood Alpha's stat pool inflates the equalized team pool.
  • Sun Fac (Defense or Protection sets): Prioritize Protection, Defense, and Tenacity primaries. High survivability keeps his taunt active and resists status effects.
  • Geonosian Spy (Critical Damage and Critical Chance sets): Use an Offense primary cross and Critical Damage triangle. Silent Strike consumes active status effects across the field to scale its burst damage.
  • Geonosian Soldier (Critical Chance sets): Maximize Critical Chance so his basic attacks reliably score critical hits, cycling bonus Turn Meter to accelerate the squad's assist train.
  • Poggle the Lesser (Speed and Potency sets): Tune his Speed just behind Brood Alpha to cleanse early debuffs and apply Offense Up immediately, while Potency ensures his Ability Block lands.

Key Progression Milestones

Unlocking Padmé Amidala

In the "Aggressive Negotiations" event, Padmé's unique ability punishes standard assist squads by granting bonus protection whenever enemies attack out of turn. Geonosians bypass this mechanic using Geonosian Spy.

  1. Absorb incoming damage using Brood Alpha's summon and the equalized health pool.
  2. Allow buffs and debuffs to accumulate on Padmé or General Kenobi through normal swarm attacks.
  3. Target Padmé with Geonosian Spy's Silent Strike. The ability consumes all status effects to one-shot Padmé, removing her protection mechanics for the rest of the battle.

Dark Side Geonosis Territory Battles

The Phase 3 Geonosian Special Mission awards Wat Tambor character shards, making a functional Geonosian squad a common guild recruitment requirement.

  • Investment Requirement: Bring all five Geonosians to Gear 12 equipped with 6-dot mods.
  • Combat Strategy: Maintain Hive Mind, use Sun Fac's basic attack to strip buffs from Clone Troopers and Jedi, keep the Brute taunting to soak enemy burst hits, and target commanders first.

Fleet Arena and Malevolence Synergy

Geonosians directly power three ships: Sun Fac's Geonosian Starfighter, Geonosian Spy's Starfighter, and Geonosian Soldier's Starfighter.

Early on, these three ships form a high-damage frontline under Grand Moff Tarkin’s Executrix, competing effectively for daily Crystal payouts in Fleet Arena. Later in account progression, they transition into the starting fleet for General Grievous's capital ship, the Malevolence. Because pilot gear directly determines ship speed and durability, Gear 12 investments on your Geonosians maintain long-term value.

Grand Arena Defensive Limits

Geonosians perform well on Grand Arena defense in early divisions, but they possess specific, exploitable hard counters:

  • Darth Traya: Traya's unique ability damages enemies whenever they attack out of turn, causing Geonosian swarms to kill themselves quickly.
  • Jawas: High assist frequency stacks thermal detonators rapidly across the Geonosian squad, wiping the shared health pool once the bombs detonate.

When facing rosters that have built these counters, move your Geonosians to offense to target teams lacking high out-of-turn punishment.
