To clear the Dark Side tier of the Star Forge Showdown in Star Wars™: Galaxy of Heroes, keep Darth Malak above 75% health while destroying the captive Jedi stasis chambers yourself, using the respawning Star Forge Droids to build Ferocity stacks, and saving your burst damage abilities until Malak has no pods left to consume.
Squad Requirements and Recommendations
Entering the Dark Side encounter requires a full five-character squad of Darth Revan and qualified Old Republic allies, each meeting the minimum requirement of 17,500 Galactic Power.
- Darth Revan (Leader): Essential. Mod for maximum Speed, Offense, and Critical Chance. His leadership and zetas provide critical squad survivability and turn meter generation.
- Bastila Shan (Fallen): Essential. Mod for high Speed and Potency to apply Corrupted Battle Meditation, Fear, and Shock to manage the side droids.
- HK-47: Essential burst attacker. Mod for Offense and Critical Damage to execute high single-target hits on pods and the final phase of Malak.
- Canderous Ordo: Sustained physical damage. His multi-attack basic strips protection and destroys pods quickly, though his damage-over-time debuffs must be tracked against Malak's mechanics.
- Carth Onasi or Juhani: Carth provides extra offensive assists and durability under his leadership zeta, making him the preferred fifth ally. Juhani can serve as a substitute frontline tank to absorb early attacks.
While the event can be completed at Gear 11 to Gear 12, taking Darth Revan and Bastila Shan (Fallen) beyond Gear 12 significantly lowers the fight's difficulty.
Stasis Pod Priority
Four captive Jedi remain in stasis chambers during the encounter. When Malak drops below roughly 75%, 50%, and 25% health, he attempts to use Drain Life on an active stasis pod, restoring his health and permanently gaining that Jedi's core attribute bonus. Destroying the pods before Malak absorbs them prevents these buffs from transferring.
| Stasis Pod Jedi | Buff Granted to Malak if Absorbed | Priority | Tactical Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jedi Knight (Tenacity) | Massive Tenacity boost | 1 (First) | Prevents Malak from resisting essential debuffs like Shock and Fear. |
| Jedi Knight (Crit Immunity) | Critical Hit Immunity | 2 (Second) | Preserves your squad's burst damage potential from HK-47 and Revan. |
| Jedi Knight (Defense/Armor) | Substantial Armor increase | 3 (Third) | Prevents Malak from mitigating your physical damage during the final phase. |
| Jedi Knight (Offense/Speed) | Offense and Speed increase | 4 (Last) | Eliminates extra speed and damage scaling before your final burn. |
Destroying the Tenacity and Critical Immunity chambers first is mandatory. If Malak absorbs either of these pods, landing debuffs or executing sufficient burst damage becomes virtually impossible.
Managing Star Forge Droids
Two Star Forge Droids continuously flank Darth Malak and respawn shortly after being destroyed. They serve two vital functions:
- Threshold Padding: Redirect basic attacks and area-of-effect abilities to the droids when attacking Malak risks pushing him below a drain threshold prematurely.
- Ferocity Generation: Darth Revan's squad gains Ferocity through combat actions, increasing Offense, Potency, and Speed at the expense of Defense and Tenacity. Cycling attacks and kills on the droids builds high Ferocity stacks without risking Malak's health triggers.
Step-by-Step Fight Execution
Follow this combat sequence to complete the encounter:
- Leave Malak alone initially: Target the Tenacity stasis chamber immediately. Apply Shock or Fear to the side droids with Bastila Shan (Fallen) to prevent excessive incoming damage.
- Break the primary pods: Focus down the Tenacity chamber, then immediately switch to the Critical Immunity chamber. Use Canderous Ordo and HK-47 to burst them down.
- Clean up the remaining pods: Destroy the Armor and Offense stasis chambers while redirecting overflow attacks onto the respawning droids. Do not lower Malak below 75% health until all four chambers are destroyed.
- Prepare for the burn: Once all four pods are gone, defeat both droids to temporarily clear the board, cycle cooldowns, and allow Ferocity stacks to peak.
- Burst Darth Malak: Focus all attacks on Malak. When he casts Drain Life, he will target your squad members instead of a pod; accept ally casualties and continue the offensive. Use HK-47's Assassinate protocol and Darth Revan's strongest abilities to deplete his remaining health before his enrage timer triggers.
