In Star Wars™: Galaxy of Heroes, the Vulnerable debuff forces an afflicted enemy to suffer guaranteed critical hits from any incoming attack capable of scoring a critical strike. By bypassing the defender's native Critical Avoidance stat, Vulnerable eliminates reliance on random Critical Chance rolls and directly enables critical-hit mechanics for your damage dealers.

How Vulnerable Works in Combat

Under standard combat formulas, an attacker's Critical Chance rolls against the defender's Critical Avoidance. Vulnerable bypasses this check entirely. Every incoming strike that can critically hit will do so, scaling directly with the attacker's Critical Damage stat and Offense multipliers. Secondary effects that require a critical hit—such as bonus turn meter, cooldown reductions, or secondary debuff applications—trigger with 100% reliability against a Vulnerable target.

Limitations and Hard Counters

Vulnerable applies guaranteed critical hits only "if able" and cannot override rules that outright forbid critical strikes:

  • Critical Hit Immunity: Buffs that grant Critical Hit Immunity (such as those provided by General Kenobi) completely neutralize Vulnerable. Attacks against targets with this buff cannot score critical hits.
  • Specific Ability Clauses: Attacks or passive abilities that explicitly state they cannot critically hit will not critically hit a Vulnerable target.
  • Tenacity Checks: Vulnerable is a standard red debuff. Unless an ability specifies that it cannot be resisted, applying it requires passing a standard Potency versus Tenacity check.
  • Cleanses: Enemy cleansers can remove Vulnerable before your attackers capitalize on it.

Units That Inflict Vulnerable

Several units across the Scoundrel, Mandalorian, Droid, and Resistance factions possess abilities that apply Vulnerable.

UnitTriggering AbilityCore Tactical Function
Bo-Katan (Kryze)Reinforcements Have ArrivedDispels all buffs from target enemy, inflicts Vulnerable for two turns, and calls an ally to assist.
Dash RendarPlan BArea-of-effect attack that removes Stealth and inflicts Daze and Vulnerable.
Fennec ShandI Don't MissSingle-target multi-hit attack that applies Vulnerable while dealing heavy defense-penetrating burst damage.
0-0-0 (Triple Zero)Special ExtractionSingle-target debuff ability that stacks Vulnerable alongside Torture and Shock.
Zorii BlissSpice Runner SkillsUtility special that inflicts Vulnerable to compromise enemy frontline units for Resistance allies.

Squad Synergies and Turn Order Execution

To maximize Vulnerable, align your team composition and Speed tuning so your heaviest hitters act immediately after the debuff lands.

Scoundrel and Smuggler Teams

Dash Rendar's leadership supplies bonus Offense and Critical Damage to Scoundrel allies, scaling significantly when they have the Prepared buff. Using Dash Rendar's Plan B applies Vulnerable across the enemy team, allowing follow-up attackers like Han Solo, Chewbacca, or Qi'ra to trigger bonus turn meter loops and high-damage assists without needing extra Critical Chance modding. When using Fennec Shand, her multi-strike attack takes immediate advantage of Vulnerable to shred high-protection tanks in a single turn.

Mandalorian Burst Formations

Bo-Katan (Kryze) acts as a frontline opener under The Mandalorian (Beskar Armor) or Maul leads. Using Reinforcements Have Arrived strips taunt and defensive buffs from a tank before applying Vulnerable. If Maul acts next, his Furious Mangle attacks will land guaranteed critical strikes on every hit of his frenzy sequence, eliminating priority targets before they can trigger reactive abilities.

Doctor Aphra and Droid Setups

0-0-0 pairs Special Extraction with Torture and Shock. When run alongside Doctor Aphra and BT-1, landing Vulnerable on an enemy guarantees that subsequent area-of-effect missile salvos hit for maximum critical damage.

Turn Meter and Speed Calibration

  1. Check Enemy Buffs: Confirm the primary target does not possess Critical Hit Immunity before committing a debuff cooldown. Dispel it first if necessary.
  2. Tune Speed Stats: Mod your debuffer (such as Dash Rendar or Bo-Katan) to take a turn directly before your primary damage dealer.
  3. Account for Cleanses: If an enemy support acts between your applicator and your primary damage dealer, target the support first or bait the enemy cleanse before applying Vulnerable.
