To create an effective starting Jedi Consular in Star Wars™: KOTOR II, prioritize Wisdom and Charisma during character creation to maximize your Force difficulty class (DC) and Force point reserves. Because the Consular receives the lowest base Vitality per level of any starting class, use your early feats, equipment, and prologue resources to stabilize your defense before entering Peragus II.

Core Starting Attribute Allocation

Offensive Force casting depends on your Force DC, which is determined by your Wisdom and Charisma modifiers along with the Consular's innate class bonuses. Raising Constitution to 14 is also recommended to meet the prerequisite for mid-tier cybernetic implants later in the campaign without spending excessive points. Keep Strength low, relying on blasters, grenades, or the Weapon Finesse feat during early encounters.

AttributeRecommended ScoreBuild Purpose
Strength (STR)8 or 10Kept at base; offensive power comes from Force abilities and Finesse.
Dexterity (DEX)12 or 14Increases Defense and ranged blaster accuracy to survive early combat.
Constitution (CON)14Boosts base Vitality and qualifies for mid-tier implants.
Intelligence (INT)12 or 14Provides sufficient skill points per level for dialogue and crafting.
Wisdom (WIS)15 or 16Raises Force DC, expands Force points, and improves Will saves.
Charisma (CHA)14Adds to Force DC and reduces Force point penalties for opposite-alignment powers.

Skill and Feat Priorities

Persuade is the most important skill for the main character and should receive points at every level-up to unlock experience bonuses, alternate dialogue solutions, and companion influence checks. Allocate remaining points into Repair, Computer Use, and Treat Injury. Investing early in Repair is particularly valuable because it lowers the component cost when breaking down items at workbenches and is required to unlock full repairs and story dialogue for specific mechanical companions.

The Consular earns fewer total feats than the Jedi Guardian or Sentinel, so each selection must address survivability or utility:

  • Dueling: Grants an immediate +1 bonus to attack and Defense when wielding a single one-handed weapon, reinforcing your defense during the opening levels.
  • Toughness: Grants additional Vitality points and damage reduction to offset the Consular's fragile health pool.
  • Class Skill: Repair: If starting with 12 Intelligence, taking this feat allows you to advance Repair without paying cross-class skill point penalties.

Avoid spending feats on medium or heavy armor proficiencies. Wearing armor restricts the use of essential Force powers, including offensive casting and movement buffs.

Initial Force Powers and Class Feats

The Consular automatically receives the Force Focus class feat at level 1, adding a passive +2 bonus to your Force power DC. This bonus scales to +4 at level 6 and +6 at level 12, ensuring hostiles struggle to resist your abilities.

When picking starting Force powers:

  • Choose crowd-control abilities such as Stun or Force Push to incapacitate dangerous enemies immediately.
  • Select utility abilities such as Burst of Speed for mobility or Cure to conserve medical supplies.

Disabling groups of hostiles allows you to command the battlefield safely while your Force points regenerate.

Ebon Hawk Prologue Resource Route

Playing through the optional Ebon Hawk prologue as the astromech droid T3-M4 supplies early items that transfer directly into your inventory when the Exile awakens on Peragus II:

  1. Search passenger dormitories: Loot every footlocker in the living quarters to collect spare parts, computer spikes, and basic medpacs.
  2. Reactivate 3C-FD: Locate the damaged astromech in the main hold. Repairing the unit grants bonus experience and provides combat assistance against hostile maintenance droids.
  3. Access engine and cargo terminals: Hack the cargo console to purge fuel lines and retrieve stored supplies.
  4. Repair the outer hull: Exit through the starboard missile tube to repair damaged exterior hull plating for additional experience before docking at the mining facility.

Early Peragus Combat Strategy

A level 1 Consular wearing basic clothing cannot survive sustained melee trades against Peragus mining droids. Equip energy shields looted from security lockers before engaging hostile rooms; activating a shield absorbs blaster and energy damage to preserve your medpacs.

Funnel groups of droids through narrow doorways to prevent being flanked. Cast Stun to disable the primary threat in the room, then eliminate targets from range using blasters, concussion grenades, or frag grenades until your Force pool expands.
