To progress efficiently through early account progression in StarSavior, invest your limited experience books and gold into only five core heroes. Using the Star Link system allows the rest of your roster to match your core team's level automatically, preventing wasted materials. Combine this setup with manual control on difficult encounters, regular Tower climbs, and strict upgrade limits on early equipment to avoid mid-game resource droughts.
Level Only Five Core Heroes to Power Star Link
The Star Link mechanic sets the level of any placed character to equal your fifth highest-leveled unit. Directly spending experience books and gold on a sixth character splits your resources and slows down your entire team's progression.
To build an efficient foundation:
- Select a balanced core squad: Choose five reliable characters—typically a tank, a primary damage dealer, a secondary damage dealer, and two support units (healers or buffers).
- Funnel all experience into this team: Keep their levels balanced so the fifth unit's level remains as high as possible.
- Slot situational units into Star Link: Place elemental counters, debuff cleansers, and newly acquired heroes into Star Link slots. They immediately match your anchor level without requiring additional experience farming.
Switch to Manual Combat for Difficult Stages
The auto-battle system triggers skills and ultimate abilities immediately once their cooldowns expire. This frequently expends high-damage abilities on low-health minions or casts shields after enemy bosses have already completed their damage rotations.
When you encounter difficult campaign stages or bosses, switch to manual gameplay:
- Hold burst damage: Save high-damage ultimate skills until an enemy boss has their guard broken or enters a vulnerable state.
- Time defensive abilities: Trigger shields, damage mitigation buffs, and party heals directly before telegraphed enemy area-of-effect (AoE) strikes.
- Interrupt threat skills: Use stuns, silences, or freezes when enemies begin channeling dangerous abilities to cancel the action completely.
Manual execution allows a team to overcome combat power deficits that auto-battle cannot clear.
Push the Tower for Resource Milestones
The Tower mode does not consume standard campaign stamina. Because it acts as an independent progression track, leaving it idle slows your acquisition of upgrade materials.
- Clear floors after upgrades: Whenever you level your core team, complete a promotion, or advance skills, attempt new Tower floors immediately.
- Collect one-time milestone rewards: Completed floors award gold, skill items, refinement stones, and summoning currency.
- Swap Star Link counters: If a specific floor stalls your core team, swap an elemental or utility unit from your Star Link slots into the active party to solve the mechanic instead of waiting for raw stat increases.
Conserve Gold and Skill Books for Key Abilities
Early achievement payouts and quest clears provide an abundance of resources that diminishes sharply as character promotion costs scale upward. Upgrading every available ability on multiple characters creates a severe deficit by the mid-game.
| Resource | High-Priority Target | Low-Priority / Wasteful Target |
|---|---|---|
| Experience Books | Even distribution across your five Star Link anchors | Directly leveling a sixth or seventh character |
| Skill Books | Primary burst skills and essential group healing abilities | Minor passives or active skills on bench units |
| Gold | Core team promotions and primary damage skills | Fully upgrading Tier 1 equipment or flat secondary stats |
Prioritize high-impact active skills on your primary damage dealer and healer before investing in utility or secondary abilities.
Limit Tier 1 Gear Upgrades
Tier 1 (T1) equipment is temporary starter gear intended to bridge early story progression. Upgrading T1 gear to maximum enhancement wastes rare enhancement stones and gold that are required later for higher-tier drops.
- Upgrade primary weapons sparingly: If your team lacks the damage to beat a campaign timer or milestone floor, enhance your primary damage dealer's T1 weapon by a few levels.
- Leave defensive T1 gear at base levels: Avoid spending refinement stones on T1 armor and accessories.
- Save materials for higher tiers: Higher-tier gear dropped from deeper story chapters and higher-difficulty operations features higher base stats and substat caps, offering significantly better long-term returns on enhancement materials. Avoid rushing your progression through wasteful spending when daily Tower rewards and targeted core investments can carry you through early walls.
