Do not bench a developed John Rambo for a newly unlocked Ichiban Kasuga in State of Survival. In controlled combat testing with matched gear, identical troop tiers, and equal account buffs, Ichiban does not automatically outperform Rambo as a primary Rider march leader.

Rambo retains superior sustained lethality in long engagements and settlement hits. Ichiban provides frontloaded burst damage and defensive mitigation, but he only matches or surpasses Rambo once his star resonance and skill levels reach parity.

Combat Mechanics: Burst vs. Sustained Lethality

Both commanders specialize in leading Rider marches, but their damage curves function differently across combat rounds:

  • Rounds 1–3 (Early Phase): Ichiban triggers his skill rotations quickly, landing sharp burst damage on the opponent's frontline while reducing incoming damage. This creates immediate casualty spikes.
  • Rounds 4–6 (Mid Phase): As Ichiban's initial skill rotation ends, Rambo's flat lethality buffs and continuous attack multipliers stabilize damage output, closing the trade gap.
  • Rounds 7+ (Late Phase): Rambo’s constant passive multipliers outlast Ichiban’s burst window. In drawn-out attrition fights, Rambo secures higher total wounded counts.

Because Rambo provides consistent passive stat amplification across the entire battle, his output is predictable and durable against heavily reinforced targets. Ichiban behaves like a frontline brawler, excelling when fights end quickly or when his defensive debuffs disrupt high-burst enemies.

Resonance Thresholds and Next Actions

Because Rambo has appeared in earlier game cycles, many players already have him at high resonance tiers. Deploying a low-tier crossover hero over a maxed commander lowers overall march performance.

Before changing your march setups, check Ichiban's resonance tier against Rambo's current investment:

  1. Below 3 Stars: Keep Ichiban benched from competitive leads. Keep Rambo as your primary Rider rally commander.
  2. 4 to 5 Stars: Ichiban becomes viable for defensive garrison assignments, solo map skirmishes, and testing against specific enemy formations.
  3. Equal or Max Resonance: Ichiban matches Rambo’s overall efficiency. At this stage, you can swap between them based on whether you need Rambo's sustained kill counts or Ichiban's survivability.

Instead of replacing Rambo entirely, use Ichiban Kasuga to field a second competitive Rider march. Multi-march events such as State vs. State (SVS) Capital Clash, Reservoir Raid, and Doomsday qualifiers require multiple rally and garrison setups. Assign Rambo to lead sustained assaults against fortified targets, and assign Ichiban to defensive holds or secondary offensive lines.
