To defeat the Dungeon Beast and Beastess double boss encounter in Takashi Ninja Warrior, sprint along the outer perimeter of the arena to force the two monsters into a single-file line, bait their heavy attacks, and focus all offensive damage on one beast until it is dead. Once the first beast falls, treat the remaining opponent as a standard single-target duel.
Arena Positioning and Target Isolation
Engaging both beasts simultaneously in direct melee leaves you vulnerable to off-screen claw swipes and ground slams during attack animations. Never fight in the center of the chamber. Instead, circle the outer edge of the arena to exploit differences in movement speed.
- String enemies out: The faster beast pulls ahead as you sprint along the perimeter, creating a temporary opening to fight one-on-one.
- Avoid corners: Stay clear of arena walls and stone pillars. Getting cornered allows dual attack hitboxes to trap you and quickly empty your health bar.
- Disengage immediately: If the trailing beast enters striking range while you are attacking the lead monster, cancel your combo and roll diagonally backward toward open space.
- Commit to one target: Do not divide damage across both health bars. Staggering one beast does not interrupt the second monster. Picking either the Dungeon Beast or the Beastess and burning it down first removes half the active threats from the chamber.
Boss Move Counters and Punish Windows
Both beasts rely on high-impact physical strikes. Each attack features a clear windup cue that dictates whether you should punish the recovery or evade entirely.
| Boss Move | Visual Windup Cue | Counter Tactic | Follow-Up Opportunity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pouncing Lunge | Crouches low and pulls back front limbs | Roll forward-diagonally past the airborne arc | High: Land 2β3 light katana slashes to the rear while it turns |
| Double Claw Sweep | Rears up and prepares horizontal sweeps | Backstep or roll backward out of reach | Medium: Land a single heavy slash after the second sweep finishes |
| Overhead Slam | Stands on hind legs and pauses briefly | Sidestep immediately before downward impact | High: Execute a quick attack combo while the stance resets |
| Frenzy Charge | Barks, lowers head, and sprints straight | Run perpendicular until the charge finishes | Low: Reset your spacing; do not contest the charge path |
The pouncing lunge covers significant distance, but it offers the most reliable opening. Dodge toward and beneath the leap rather than backward along its path. When the beast lands, it must complete a turning animation, which exposes its back to immediate counterattacks.
Stamina and Aggro Management
Uncontrolled swinging drains stamina and prevents you from dodging secondary attacks. Managing combat resources and camera angles ensures you do not get trapped mid-animation:
- Retain reserve stamina: Keep at least 25% of your stamina bar available at all times to guarantee you can dodge sudden companion strikes.
- Interrupt approaches with shurikens: Throw shurikens at the trailing boss to disrupt its movement rhythm and prevent synchronized leap attacks.
- Control the camera manually: Avoid staying locked onto a single target if it cuts the second boss off-screen. Position the camera to keep both monsters visible.
Closing the Duel
Keep melee combos limited to short, two-hit sequences until the first beast dies. When the encounter transitions to a solo fight against the remaining beast, stay at mid-range, bait an overhead smash or claw sweep, roll behind the recovery frames, and finish the fight with full combo rotations.
