To defeat the Nyxclaw Gryphon in Tearscape, dodge its telegraphed frontal attacks by strafing laterally, then limit your counterattacks to short two- or three-hit combos during its ground recovery windows.
Reading Attack Patterns and Positioning
The Nyxclaw Gryphon relies heavily on frontal attacks and predictable strike chains. Staying directly in front of the boss puts you at immediate risk of heavy damage.
- Wing Flares: When the boss flares its wings, it is preparing a sweeping wing strike followed immediately by a lunging claw attack. Back away or strafe sideways as soon as the animation begins.
- Lateral Strafe: Circle around the Gryphon's sides to reach its blind spot. Forcing the boss to rotate wastes its attack rhythm and grants extra time to manage your stamina.
- Corner Escapes: Avoid fighting against arena walls. If cornered, the Gryphon gains movement speed and frequently spams a rapid claw flurry. Use your dodge roll to break line of sight and retreat toward the center of the arena.
Punishing Attack Windows
Your primary damage opening occurs right after the Gryphon finishes a lunging sequence or an aerial combo, which typically leads into a heavily telegraphed ground slam directly in front of it.
- Wait for the Slam: Stand outside the hit zone in front of the Gryphon while it executes the slow ground-slam animation.
- Flank the Boss: Sprint to the boss's side or rear while its heavy strike completes.
- Execute Short Combos: Land two or three quick attacks. Do not overcommit to longer attack animations, or you risk getting hit by a sudden tail whip or take-off animation.
- Disengage: Immediately fall back to a neutral, mid-range position to prepare for the next attack cycle.
Surviving the Final Phase
When the Nyxclaw Gryphon reaches low health, its attack tempo increases significantly. It hovers for longer durations, chains lunges together, and cuts its standard ground recovery windows nearly in half.
Shift to a defensive playstyle during this final phase. Instead of risking attacks after standard lunges, wait specifically for its signature aerial dive attack. The dive leaves the boss stationary on the ground longer than any other late-fight move. Dodge the dive laterally, execute a single short combo, and disengage immediately until the fight is finished.

This helped me understand strategy much better.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
