To defend your base in Tiny War: Kingdom Defense, deploy high-health melee heroes at lane intersections to block enemy movement, position ranged support units behind them, and stagger crowd-control abilities during heavy waves.
Deploy Heroes at Lane Intersections
The primary way to handle enemy waves is to anchor your front-line units directly at lane junctions where paths converge. Positioning units at these chokepoints forces incoming enemies into a dense kill zone, allowing your heroes to affect multiple targets with their attacks and skills.
- Target Narrow Corridors: Choose placement spots with limited terrain width. Tighter spaces increase the efficiency of area-of-effect skills because enemies are forced into close proximity.
- Establish Secondary Defense: Place at least one hero directly behind your lead defender. This redundant layer prevents enemies from breaking through if your primary tank takes heavy damage during a sudden wave surge.
Position Units by Voxel Grid Attack Ranges
Heroes occupy distinct spaces on the voxel grid and cannot be stacked on the same tile. Use the visual radius indicator when selecting each unit to ensure its attack arc covers maximum lane pathing, and structure your grid into a three-row formation:
- Front Row: High-health melee units that physically block incoming ground troops.
- Middle Row: Mid-range support units that engage targets while providing adjacent ally buffs.
- Rear Row: Ranged specialists that deal splash damage or pick off high-priority targets from safety.
This tiered grid ensures that fast-moving or leaking enemies are immediately engaged by a secondary unit if they bypass the front line.
Stagger Ability Cooldowns for Heavy Waves
Holding crowd-control abilities for peak wave density is critical for earning three-star stage completions. Triggering all abilities simultaneously leaves your defensive line vulnerable while skills refresh.
- Rotate Stuns and Slows: Cycle crowd-control skills so one hero is always ready to delay an incoming cluster of enemies, giving your primary damage dealers time to clear the lane.
- Prioritize Skill Stats: Upgrade haste or cooldown reduction stats on your core heroes to maintain reliable ability rotations during longer stages.
- Check Enemy Resistances: Evaluate upcoming wave compositions before starting a stage. High-armor enemies require elemental or specialized damage types; swap ineffective physical damage heroes out of your grid layout before the wave begins.

I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
Can you add more details about heroes in a future update?
This helped me understand heroes much better.
