To protect your city from enemy raids in Total Battle: War Strategy, make your base unprofitable to attack and keep your army safe while offline. Most raiders target exposed resource stockpiles and unshielded units. By keeping open resources below protected warehouse thresholds, sheltering your troops, and monitoring the Watchtower, you can prevent major losses without needing a permanent shield.

Remove Plunder Incentives

Enemy players scout kingdoms primarily for Wood, Stone, Iron, Food, and Silver. If your city holds more resources than your city warehouse can protect, you become a priority target.

  • Keep resource chests sealed: Leave resource packs in your inventory until you are ready to spend them immediately on research, construction, or training.
  • Deposit excess goods: Send surplus materials from production plots to your Clan Warehouse, which shields deposited goods from enemy plunder.
  • Spend down production: Before logging off, invest remaining unprotected resources into captain upgrades or building queues to keep your open balances minimal.

When hostile scouts inspect your city and find negligible loot, attackers usually pass over your kingdom in favor of richer targets.

Shelter Your Armies While Offline

Leaving combat units stationed in an unshielded base puts them at risk of being wiped out if a higher-tier player hits your walls. Because hospital capacity and revival temples fill quickly, defensive wipeouts permanently destroy excess troops and require high amounts of Gold or speedups to recover.

Protect your marching forces before logging out by using these sheltering options:

  1. Reinforce clan fortresses: Send your primary march into your Clan Fort or Clan Capital. These structures provide high defense buffs and are rarely struck outside of full-scale clan wars.
  2. Station units with shielded allies: Send your troops to garrison a clan member who maintains an active 24-hour or multi-day Shield of Peace. Stationed units remain protected under the ally's bubble.
  3. Dispatch long-distance marches: If clan structures are full or unavailable, send your army on a slow, distant march to an isolated resource node or encampment well away from active conflict areas.

An unshielded city with minimal plunder and no stationed troops offers no incentives, making an enemy attack a waste of stamina and march items.

Respond to Watchtower Alerts

An upgraded Watchtower provides early warning and detailed march reports, revealing attacker coordinates, troop tiers, and arrival times. How you respond depends on the scale of the inbound threat:

Threat TypeImmediate ResponseTactical Objective
Incoming ScoutSpend or transfer all unprotected resources to the Clan Warehouse.Deny the enemy scouting data and remove loot incentives.
Solo Attack MarchCompare the enemy troop tier against your wall defenses and Embassy reinforcements.Decide whether to brace with a reinforced garrison or shelter troops.
Clan Rally MarchEvacuate stationed combat units and prepare an escape teleport.Avoid a catastrophic troop wipe against overwhelming collective numbers.

Coordinate Defensive Garrisons Through the Embassy

If you choose to defend against a solo attack, your defense relies on allied reinforcements hosted through your Embassy. The Embassy level determines the total number of allied troops your city can hold.

  • Activate defensive items: Use defense, health, and combat boosts from your inventory before the attacking march hits your walls.
  • Equip your defense captain: Assign a captain equipped with gear that boosts wall fortification, infantry survivability, and ranged damage.
  • Request specific reinforcements: Ask clanmates to send defensive frontline units, such as guardsmen or spearmen, rather than fragile strike units.

Use Teleports Against Overwhelming Attacks

When multiple enemy captains launch a coordinated rally at your coordinates, static defense usually fails against massed high-tier forces.

Keep at least one Clan Teleport and several Random Teleports in your inventory. Activating a teleport while an enemy march is inbound breaks the attacker's march line instantly, forcing the raid to hit empty terrain. If your clan is active in an open war zone, relocate your city onto official clan territory near your Clan Fort to reduce reinforcement march times and gain territory-based defensive buffs.
