To progress efficiently through the Town Stories event in Township, direct your energy toward items required for active main story tasks rather than merging random pieces. Keep at least four to six grid tiles open on your merge board at all times to avoid board locks, and schedule your play around energy recharge limits and generator cooldowns.
How the Town Stories Event Loop Works
Town Stories takes place on a dedicated event grid separate from your standard town production. You tap primary generators to spend event energy, which produces base-tier items. You then drag and merge identical items together to create higher-tier tools, food, or decorative objects.
The top of the event interface displays customer orders. Submitting the requested merge-chain items grants event points and narrative progression. Story milestones unlock personal reward chests and subsequent narrative chapters. Because grid capacity is limited, only merge chains that directly advance your current objectives.
Managing Energy and Generator Cooldowns
Energy is the primary pacing factor in Town Stories. Every generator tap consumes energy, which passively regenerates over time until reaching its storage cap.
Generators also possess internal limits and enter a cooldown state after dispensing a specific batch of items. During cooldown, the generator cannot dispense items until its timer expires unless you pay Township Cash (T-Cash) to skip the wait.
To maximize your energy economy without spending premium currency:
- Tap your primary generator until it triggers its cooldown before shifting your attention to combining items on the board.
- Let cooldown timers run down naturally while working on alternate tasks rather than spending T-Cash for instant skips.
- Deplete your energy before logging off so the passive regeneration timer runs while you are away.
- Collect free energy opportunities and optional video boosts whenever they appear in the event interface.
Organizing the Merge Board
Running out of free tiles stalls event progression. If your board fills completely with mismatched items, you cannot spawn the base components required to fulfill active orders.
Arranging your board by functional zones keeps empty tiles available in the center for active combining.
| Board Zone | Recommended Placement | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Top & Left Edges | Active generators | Keeps item dispensers out of the central merging area to avoid accidental taps. |
| Board Center | Open staging area | Leaves free tiles to spawn new pieces and combine mid-tier items cleanly. |
| Bottom & Right Edges | Completed quest items | Stores finished high-tier items safely until you are ready to submit them. |
| Event Inventory | Dormant chain items | Holds high-tier spare items from inactive chains off the main grid. |
Prioritizing Story Tasks Over Side Orders
Town Stories presents two types of customer requests: primary story tasks, which advance the main plot and reward progression milestones, and auxiliary side orders, which yield smaller point bundles.
- Check the main story requirements first: Inspect the target item's level in the merge tree before spending energy.
- Focus generators on one chain: Tap only the generators needed to build the main story item.
- Fulfill side orders opportunistically: Turn in side orders only when their required items appear as incidental byproducts while building your primary story items.
- Hold off on opening prize bubbles: Leave reward drops and secondary item containers unopened until you have enough cleared board space to absorb the extra pieces.
