You should delay building the Jewelry Store when it unlocks at Level 53. While it opens up orders that reward Township Cash (T-Cash), it consumes metal ingots that are far more valuable for permanent town upgrades in the Academy of Industry.
Ingot Costs: Jewelry Store vs. Academy of Industry
Operating the Jewelry Store requires smelting copper, silver, gold, and platinum ores into ingots at your Foundries. These ingots serve as the raw materials for items such as rings, earrings, pendants, and tiaras.
The primary drawback is that the Academy of Industry requires these exact same ingots to upgrade your town infrastructure. Using ingots at the Academy provides permanent benefits:
- Train lines: Upgrading trains reduces their return transit times by up to 50%, speeding up the delivery of essential construction and barn materials.
- Key factories: Upgrading facilities like the Dairy, Bakery, and Sugar Factory permanently decreases their production times.
Every ingot turned into jewelry is an ingot taken away from these permanent infrastructure upgrades.
How the Building Affects Helicopter Orders
Constructing the Jewelry Store directly changes the pool of tasks generated at your helicopter pad. The game only requests items from factories you have already built.
- Before building: The order board will never demand crafted jewelry. The mobster client, Don Pacone, can still appear asking for raw ingots, but you can discard his task using the trash can icon. A standard order requiring crops or basic goods will replace it after a short cooldown.
- After building: Don Pacone will regularly request crafted jewelry alongside ingots. These orders enter your permanent rotation, competing for board space.
Fulfilling Don Pacone's orders pays 1 to 2 T-Cash alongside coins. However, spending multiple refined ingots and hours of foundry time for 1 or 2 T-Cash is an inefficient trade while your town still needs infrastructure improvements.
| Feature | Don Pacone Orders | Standard Citizen Orders |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Reward | 1–2 T-Cash | Coins and XP |
| Required Inputs | Ingots and crafted jewelry | Crops, animal products, factory items |
| Impact on Upgrades | Consumes smelted metals | Uses renewable farm goods |
| Discard Option | Trashable without penalty | Trashable without penalty |
When to Build the Jewelry Store
Leave the factory unbuilt until your town progression reaches a comfortable surplus. Consider constructing it only after meeting these milestones:
- Trains are upgraded: Your primary train lines have reached the maximum 50% time-reduction milestone in the Academy of Industry.
- Core factories are upgraded: High-volume production buildings have their processing times substantially reduced.
- Ingots are in surplus: Your barn consistently holds extra metal bars after mining sessions, with no pending academy upgrades requiring them.
- Achievement progress: You are ready to complete town collection achievements or place every available municipal structure.
Fulfilling Don Pacone Orders Without Crafting
If you want the T-Cash rewards from Don Pacone without consuming your own ore, use the City Market instead of running the factory.
Hiring the Market Dealer (Rajah) allows you to search for and buy jewelry batches directly for coins. You can turn these purchased goods in to Don Pacone to collect the T-Cash reward, leaving all of your smelted ingots reserved for the Academy of Industry. If you do not wish to hire the Dealer, simply discard Don Pacone's requests whenever they appear on the helicopter board.

This saved me time in the early game.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
