About the Official Typefall - Word Drop Puzzle PC Client
Developer: Alex Popa
A completed word is outlined rather than removed automatically, so spotting a possibility is only part of the puzzle. You choose when to collect it. That choice can matter: leave CAT in place and, with the right letters, it might grow into CATCH, which scores as a single larger word. You can also cross a horizontal word with a vertical one at a shared letter and collect both in one tap. Every collection compacts the board, and the falling letters may expose a new word. Those collapse-made words are flagged but left for you to notice and claim, creating opportunities for follow-up combos. Rare letters are worth more, so placement involves both keeping the board manageable and making valuable words from what you have.
The letter supply gives the game its distinctive strategic constraint. Letters are not generated at random: each round loads real words and feeds you their letters in shuffled order. Everything you receive can be spelled, but whether you can fit those letters together depends on how you steer them. The longer-term goal is to climb through eighteen levels by collecting words across as many runs as necessary. Early levels draw from three-, four-, and five-letter words; at level eighteen, the source words reach twenty-five letters. Each level also adds another word to the board, increasing the challenge as the available vocabulary grows. Your LEXICON records every word you have found, arranged from common to ultra rare, while your best score is kept on the device and on the Game Center leaderboard.
On PC, a larger display can make it easier to scan the full thirteen-column board, read intersecting words, and judge how a proposed placement might connect with letters already in play. Keyboard-and-mouse input can also make repeated steering and dropping feel precise: use deliberate left-and-right movement to position a letter, then a downward input when you are ready to commit it. The mouse is useful for inspecting outlined words and choosing exactly when to collect them, particularly when a word could still be extended or when a collapse has revealed another scoring opportunity. These are practical advantages for a game whose central decisions depend on seeing the board clearly and acting at the right moment; they do not change the underlying challenge of managing the pile.
Runs have a limited-life structure: you hold three lives, and one returns every two hours. An optional one-time Infinite Lives purchase removes that gate; the game has no ads either way, and hints are available in tens as well as earned through word milestones. Typefall is designed to work offline and requires no account or sign-in. Its spare presentation—one screen, a monospaced typeface, four sepia colors, and one amber—keeps attention on the letters and the shifting board. The result is a focused puzzle about planning placements, weighing when to score, and finding one more word before the pile reaches the top.
