UnGodly is an online-only game that requires a persistent internet connection to play. It does not contain an offline mode, meaning you must be connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data to log in, navigate menus, or play through combat stages.

Before starting a play session, ensure your device has a stable network connection to prevent session restarts or lost progress.

Why UnGodly Requires an Internet Connection

UnGodly uses a live-service architecture that keeps player data on central servers rather than your local device storage. A persistent connection is mandatory for the following reasons:

  • Server-Side Save Data: Your master save file, hero progression, inventory items, and account settings are validated on the server to prevent local file tampering and synchronization errors.
  • Live Content and Events: The game client communicates continuously with the server to authenticate participation in dynamic events, check daily reward status, and fetch server-wide configuration updates.
  • Account Authentication: Background authentication continuously verifies your connection to maintain session authorization across menus and real-time combat.

Because save files are not stored locally, you cannot launch or play UnGodly in locations without cellular signal or internet access.

Best Practices for Network Stability

Losing your connection while navigating menus or fighting bosses will trigger a reconnection prompt or force the game to restart to the main title screen. Follow these steps to maintain continuous session connection:

  • Avoid Auto-Switching Networks: If your device automatically toggles between Wi-Fi and mobile data, the brief disconnect during the network switch will interrupt your session. Turn off automatic network switching before playing.
  • Avoid Unstable Travel Zones: High-speed transit or areas with weak coverage can cause latency spikes and synchronization drops as your device switches cell towers.
  • Bypass Restrictive Public Wi-Fi: Public Wi-Fi networks often feature bandwidth throttling or strict security firewalls that block background server handshakes. Use a private Wi-Fi connection or stable mobile data instead.

Troubleshooting Connection Loss

If you encounter a "Connection Lost" error or experience frequent disconnects, perform the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Reset your network adapter: Toggle your device's airplane mode on for five seconds, then turn it off to refresh your local IP assignment and reset the server handshake.
  2. Switch connection types: Switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data (or vice versa) if one network experiences continuous latency or packet loss.
  3. Restart the client: Close the UnGodly app completely and relaunch it to initiate a fresh authentication check with the live servers.
