To secure first occupation of Sunfire Castle in Whiteout Survival, your alliance must position designated runners on the inner border of the red wasteland, launch a solo cavalry march the moment the countdown timer hits zero, and immediately chain march speedups to hit the structure before any rival alliance.
Because first-capture rewards trigger on physical arrival, pure travel speed takes priority over combat power during the opening seconds.
Teleport to the Wasteland Border
The red wasteland surrounding Sunfire Castle applies a severe march speed penalty to all troop movements. Marching across this terrain dramatically increases transit time, meaning physical proximity to the castle is the most critical factor in claiming the objective.
- Occupy the inner ring: Teleport your designated runner to the closest valid coordinates bordering the red mud. Starting even a few tiles further back in the alliance hive adds seconds of transit time that cannot be easily recovered.
- Clear line-of-sight pathing: Ensure no player cities, obstacles, or resource nodes sit directly between the runner's city and the castle center. Obstructions force the game's pathfinding into curved routes, wasting distance.
- Stage garrisons nearby: Position high-stat defense leaders directly behind the runner's city so follow-up reinforcement marches have the shortest possible travel distance.
| Placement Factor | Recommended Configuration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| City Position | Absolute inner ring bordering the red mud | Minimizes travel distance across the terrain penalty |
| Pathing Route | Direct, unobstructed straight line to center | Prevents pathfinding detours around obstacles |
| Support Spacing | Reinforcement cities placed immediately behind runner | Reduces reinforcement travel time for incoming defense waves |
Configure a Pure Solo Sprint March
Standard castle captures often rely on 5-minute alliance rallies, but first occupation is strictly an arrival race. If your alliance charges a rally, an enemy solo runner will enter the unoccupied structure and claim the first-capture milestone long before your rally launches.
Set up a dedicated sprint squad before the shield drops:
- Select mobility heroes: Assign heroes equipped with march speed skills or cavalry movement buffs to cut base travel time.
- Deploy full lancer formations: Lancers have higher inherent map velocity than infantry or marksmen, maximizing movement speed across the mud.
- Activate march boosts: Use an item-based 20% or 50% March Speed boost from your inventory before the final minute of the countdown.
- Prepare inventory speedups: Keep 25% and 50% March Speedup items readily accessible for the initial sprint.
A pure speed formation cannot survive sustained defense against heavily geared enemy players. The sprinter's only objective is triggering the first-occupation event.
Time the Launch and Chain Speedups
Launching too early causes the game client to bounce your march against the active peace shield, locking your squad in an invalid march and losing the race. Track the remaining time using the server clock rather than visual countdown animations to account for connection latency.
- Keep Sunfire Castle selected as the final ten seconds tick down.
- Tap attack the moment the timer reaches zero and select your preset solo sprint queue.
- Tap the marching queue on the field the moment it exits your city gate.
- Chain multiple 50% March Speedups in rapid succession until the march reaches the center.
Chaining speedups cuts transit time to a fraction of a second, securing entry before unboosted marches arrive.
Reinforce the Castle and Monitor Turrets
Once the sprinter secures the first-occupation rewards, your alliance must immediately reinforce or swap control of the structure. A lone runner holding Sunfire Castle can be evicted in seconds by incoming enemy combat marches.
- Immediate reinforcement waves: Alliance members staged behind the runner must launch defensive marches packed with high-tier infantry and defensive heroes simultaneously with the runner's sprint, speeding them up so they land seconds after capture.
- Leadership garrison swap: If the runner lacks the stats to absorb an organized rally, alliance leadership should coordinate a garrison swap to place their strongest defensive commander in charge.
- Manage turret damage: The four surrounding turrets fire continuous, percentage-based damage at the central castle garrison. If your alliance does not possess the active headcount to contest the turrets alongside the center, the crossfire will rapidly fill your hospital capacity. If sustaining turret bombardment is unviable, take the initial capture rewards and withdraw before losses accumulate.

Good guide for Whiteout Survival players. The strategy part was useful.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
