To transfer to a target state in Whiteout Survival when your power exceeds the server cap—and you do not have a Special Invite—you must reduce your power by intentionally killing off your own troops. Permanent upgrades cannot be reset or dismantled, leaving active troop counts as the only component of your combat power that can be reduced.
Calculate Your Permanent vs. Removable Power
Before sacrificing any units, check your Chief Profile power breakdown to confirm that lowering your power is mathematically possible. Account power falls into two categories:
- Permanent Core Power: Furnace level, Fire Crystal upgrades, completed research, Chief Gear, Chief Charms, Hero Gear, and hero star promotions. These upgrades are permanent and cannot be lowered.
- Compressible Troop Power: Active troops across your Infantry, Lancer, and Marksman rosters.
Subtract your total troop power from your overall power. If your remaining permanent core power is already higher than the destination state's transfer cap, you cannot lower your power enough to qualify for a standard transfer. In that scenario, you can only move if target state leadership grants you a Special Invite.
Steps to Purge Power Through Combat
Troops only lose power permanently when they suffer hard deaths rather than entering medical recovery.
| Step | Action | Objective |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Audit Baseline | Check Chief Profile power breakdown | Confirm permanent core power sits below the target state cap. |
| 2. Fill Recovery Pools | Take initial wounded in battle | Fill Infirmary and Enlistment capacities to trigger permanent casualties on subsequent hits. |
| 3. Execute Fatal Marches | Attack fortified targets | Send full un-buffed marches against strong defenses to convert losses directly into deaths. |
| 4. Verify Transfer Status | Check the State Transfer interface | Confirm total profile power has dropped below the destination threshold. |
1. Fill the Infirmary and Enlistment Office
When troops take damage, they fill the Infirmary first. Once the Infirmary reaches capacity, a portion of remaining casualties routes to the Enlistment Office, while excess casualties become permanent deaths. Letting your highest-tier units fill the hospital and enlistment pools preserves a portion of your army for easier recovery after the transfer.
2. Force Permanent Casualties
Once your recovery facilities are completely full, launch un-buffed marches of high-tier troops directly into fortified enemy garrisons, high-level player castles, or level-capped facilities. Because your hospital and enlistment capacities are saturated, all subsequent casualties bypass recovery and become permanent losses, shedding millions of power per march. Continue until your overall power falls safely below the target transfer limit.
How to Recover Power After Transferring
Once you complete the transfer and arrive in your new state, begin restoring your army through low-cost recovery methods:
- Clear the Enlistment Office: Complete daily alliance missions and resource donations to earn loyalty points and recover enlistment units without spending speedups.
- Heal Infirmary Troops in Batches: Heal wounded troops in small batches so alliance help taps can complete the timers without consuming generic speedups.
- Time Retraining with Events: Save large training pushes for major scoring windows, such as the King of Icefield, Hall of Chiefs, or State vs. State (SvS) Preparation Week, to earn rank rewards while rebuilding your roster.
