To beat Night Highway in Zombastic: Time to Survive, maintain continuous horizontal movement along open lanes, funnel swarms around vehicle wrecks, pick movement speed and piercing upgrades early, and eliminate ranged acid spitters immediately.
Navigating Roadway Geometry and Chokepoints
Night Highway restricts your movement to horizontal asphalt lanes bordered by impassable guardrails and divided by disabled cars, sedans, and overturned trucks.
To prevent getting trapped by incoming hordes:
- Move parallel to traffic lanes: Run horizontally along the main roads rather than squeezing through tight gaps between car husks, where suddenly spawning runner packs can corner you.
- Use vehicles as shields: Skirt the outer edges of disabled vehicles so pursuers take longer looping paths, giving automated weapons time to thin the pack.
- Stay away from highway guardrails: The upper and lower guardrails block all movement. If swarms advance from both sides, push forward through the thinner part of the horde toward the open road rather than retreating into a barrier wall.
Recommended Upgrades and Skill Synergies
Linear lane layouts make penetrating and area-of-effect weapons significantly more effective than single-target attacks. Packed columns of zombies allow multi-hit attacks to achieve full damage value.
| Upgrade Type | Recommended Selection | Advantage on Night Highway |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Projectile | Piercing Ammo / Heavy Shot | Penetrates front-line bruisers to hit targets behind |
| Area Denial | Molotov / Fire Grenades | Burns swarms packed into lane bottlenecks |
| Defensive Utility | Movement Speed Shoes | Prevents sprinters from pinning you against guardrails |
| Burst Damage | Rocket Launcher / Grenade | Staggers charging elites and armored mutants |
Prioritize movement speed upgrades within your first three level-ups. Night Highway's long sightlines leave standard-speed survivors vulnerable when fast sprinters spawn. Pair your sustained ground or splash damage with at least one high-impact burst weapon to eliminate durable targets before they break through your firing line.
Enemy Target Prioritization
Eliminate specialized mutants based on the immediate threat they pose to your movement space:
- Ranged Acid Spitters: Kill these enemies first. They stay behind vehicle wrecks and launch lingering toxic pools that deny lane access and trap you in oncoming swarms.
- Fast Feral Runners: Backpedal along clear road stretches and direct fire toward sprinters to kill them before they close the gap.
- Armored Brutes: Heavy mutants resist knockback and absorb heavy fire. Drag them through active fire patches and tight vehicle gaps until their armor breaks.
- Standard Walker Swarms: Slower zombies mainly shield priority targets. Clear them passively with piercing ammunition and lingering area splash damage.
Kiting Surge Waves and Bosses
When a stage surge alert appears, transition immediately into an elliptical kiting loop. Run down one open lane, round a vehicle cluster at the end, and return along the opposite side of the asphalt. This circular path packs the horde behind you and prevents flank surrounds.
When gathering dropped experience gems and health kits, loop entirely around an obstacle before sweeping the dropped items. Never reverse directly into a pursuing pack to collect loot.
During the final stage boss encounter:
- Maintain maximum horizontal distance: Keep substantial space across the highway lanes to give yourself time to react to charge indicators and leap animations.
- Use vehicle wrecks as collision blocks: When the boss telegraphs a forward dash, side-step behind an abandoned car to break line of sight. The boss will strike the vehicle and stall, exposing itself to burst attacks.
- Clear adds continuously: Rely on passive area-of-effect skills to eliminate incoming minion spawns while you focus single-target burst weapons on the boss's recovery windows.

Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
