9 Kings on PC is a fast-paced roguelike kingdom builder and autobattler about turning a small citadel into the strongest kingdom on the map. You choose one of nine kings, each built around a different style of play, and then try to survive decades of war, strife, rival attacks, and unpredictable events. One king can stockpile gold to hire mercenaries, while another can harness the forces of nature, warp the laws of time, use dark magic, or raise hordes of fiendish imps. These starting identities give each run a distinct direction, but the real objective is to discover how far you can push a kingdom through clever combinations of buildings, units, spells, perks, and positioning before increasingly powerful enemies overwhelm you.

The main loop centers on expanding and improving your citadel while assembling a deck that supports your chosen strategy. You place cards to grow your territory, upgrade buildings and towers, recruit new troops, and strengthen those troops by stacking effects and spells. Cards can also be looted from rival kings, letting you combine their unique options with your own and search for powerful synergies. That makes every decision about more than simply adding strength: you are shaping a build, deciding which effects belong together, and looking for the chaotic combinations that can make your kingdom overpowered. Battles are part of the ongoing survival test, with positioning, troop selection, defensive improvements, and resource choices all contributing to whether your empire can outlast its opponents. Since every run is different, failure feeds experimentation rather than following one fixed solution, and the goal is often to find a new interaction that lets you break the game in a spectacularly effective way.

The full version expands the free starting experience with all kings, new quests, multiplayer, and more. Quest Mode provides unique challenges and new ground to conquer, while async multiplayer lets you battle eight rival kings, climb the ranks, and customize your look as you prove yourself the king of kings. On PC, the larger display is especially useful when your citadel fills with buildings, towers, troops, and layered card effects: you can read more of the battlefield at once, compare available cards and upgrades more comfortably, and judge positioning without the interface feeling crowded. Keyboard-and-mouse control also suits the repeated strategic actions at the center of a run. A mouse makes it easier to select individual buildings, units, and cards when planning an expansion or preparing a battle, while keyboard input can make frequent management actions feel more direct as you cycle through choices and respond to events. The result is a version well suited to studying the board, refining a deck, and making quick decisions during the game’s increasingly pressured battles.
