Aniimo Combat Guide: How to Dodge, Counter, and Swap Creatures

To clear high-difficulty zones and defeat tough bosses in Aniimo, switch off passive auto-battling and take manual control of your active squad. Surviving under-leveled or restricted encounters requires dodging telegraphed attacks, rotating creatures before their guard gauges break, and reserving major combat abilities for enemy vulnerability windows.

Reading Attack Telegraphs and Countering

Success in difficult fights depends on tracking enemy posture rather than your squad's health bars. Enemy attacks use visual telegraphs, such as distinct physical wind-up animations or glowing visual effects.

1. Watch enemy posture: Focus on boss animation cues to spot the start of a major strike.
2. Execute a dodge: Trigger a dash command as soon as the wind-up animation begins.
3. Stay in melee range: Dodge around or toward the enemy so you stay close enough to attack immediately after the strike misses.
4. Unleash skill combos: Wait for the boss's recovery phase or staggered state before executing your high-damage abilities.

Firing abilities as soon as they come off cooldown risks wasting burst damage against shielded or invulnerable enemy states. Saving your strongest skills for the brief recovery window following a telegraphed strike maximizes total damage output while conserving stamina.

Managing Guard Gauges and Swapping

The guard gauge acts as your creature's primary defensive buffer against stagger and burst damage. If a creature stays on the field until its guard gauge completely depletes, it becomes broken and vulnerable to massive, unavoidable hits.

Swapping brings a fresh creature onto the field with a full guard gauge. Tactical swaps also reset your positioning and shift boss aggro away from fragile damage dealers, keeping your entire roster operational throughout long fights.

Using Environmental Terrain

Before engaging a boss, check your immediate surroundings for large rocks, walls, or natural structures.

Kiting bosses around these environmental obstacles allows you to break line of sight against dangerous projectile attacks. Using hard cover prevents ranged damage from chipping away at your guard gauge, letting you safely wait for the boss to finish its attack pattern before moving back in to strike.
