The core loop sends you through procedurally generated dungeons, caves, and lands filled with hordes of enemies. Each run is a hack-and-slash expedition in which you fight through changing environments, overcome threats, and push farther into Rea before returning to strengthen the family. Progression is shared across the household, with skills and gear improved for the whole family through repeated runs rather than being limited to a single character. That structure encourages experimentation: you can switch between the seven Bergsons to match different abilities and fighting styles to the demands of a run, then use what you have learned and earned to make the next attempt more capable. The changing layouts also give exploration and decision-making a meaningful role, since the route and challenges of one dungeon run will not simply reproduce the previous attempt. On PC, keyboard-and-mouse controls are well suited to the repeated movement and combat decisions at the center of the game. Direct key access makes it easier to navigate tight dungeon spaces, move around enemy groups, and activate abilities during crowded fights, while the larger display gives you more room to read the action, track combat information, and distinguish threats against the detailed 2D pixel-art environments. A bigger screen is also useful when comparing characters, skills, and gear as the family develops, helping you make clearer choices before committing to another run. Children of Morta includes the Ancient Spirits and Paws and Claws DLC in the Complete Edition, with both available as you play, and it supports two-player online co-op through a shared code.
