To clear every tile on a Huge map in Dome Keeper and max out the tech tree, do not activate the primary relic when discovered. Instead, systematically strip-mine horizontal strata from the top down, match your drill tiers to increasing rock hardness, automate your hauling routes, and preserve cobalt exclusively for structural dome repairs.

Strip-Mine in Horizontal Layers

Excavating an entire Huge map requires switching from narrow exploratory shafts to methodical horizontal strip-mining. Digging scattered shafts creates uneven terrain and isolated blocks that force long, inefficient travel times late in the game.

  1. Carve two-tile-high corridors: Clear horizontal paths across the map width while leaving two-block ceilings between levels to expose hidden ore veins.
  2. Harvest exposed veins: Extract all revealed iron, water, and cobalt nodes before moving deeper.
  3. Demolish remaining divider blocks: Clear out the remaining two-block shelves from top to bottom before committing to deeper strata.
  4. Work downward in clean sectors: Clear softer upper layers entirely to fund early dome defenses and mining upgrades before tackling the dense lower layers.

Match Drill Tiers to Rock Hardness

Rock density increases significantly across deeper layers, transitioning from soft dirt to dense basalt and bedrock. Clearing wide rows without matching drill strength wastes defensive prep time on long block-breaking animations. If a block requires four or more hits to break, stop wide excavation and dig directly downward to find softer nodes or return home for the next drill upgrade.

Automate Resource Hauling

Manual carrying cannot keep pace with the travel distances required on Huge maps. As mining moves toward the map borders, walking ore back to the center shaft consumes too much of the calm cycle timer. Deploy logistics gadgets so you spend roughly eighty percent of each calm phase actively drilling.

  • The Lift: Align horizontal drop zones so mined resources slide directly into the center gravity beam. Upgrade lift speed and orb carry capacity early so harvested iron does not accumulate at the bottom of the shaft.
  • The Teleporter: Position the underground teleporter pad in the center of your active horizontal clearing zone. When the combat siren triggers, pick up resource bundles and warp directly into the dome.

Manage Wave Scaling and Reserve Cobalt

Delaying completion causes monster waves to scale higher as cycle counts climb. Late waves bring armored flyers, heavy burrowers, and high-frequency laser attackers. Protect the dome by upgrading renewable defenses rather than burning through emergency repair items.

  • Ration cobalt: Keep a minimum reserve of five cobalt dedicated entirely to emergency mid-wave repairs. Do not spend cobalt on convenience upgrades.
  • Overcharge shields and weapons: Use surplus water to temporarily overcharge dome shields and primary weapons, increasing defensive damage mitigation and attack power.
  • Invest in damage reduction: Tech into dome shield absorption and projectile reflection early to prevent persistent chip damage.
  • Use crowd control: Deploy stun lasers, blast doors, or combat drones to stall siege enemies while primary weapons recharge.

Delay Relic Activation Until the Final Clear

When you uncover the relic chamber in the deep strata, dig around the structure to collect nearby resource nodes, but leave the power switch unlinked and do not transport the relic device up to the dome.

Treat the chamber as a standard navigation point while you clear the lowest bedrock edges and outer map corners. Use all remaining iron to finish any lingering upgrades in your tech tree. Once every block is hollowed out and all tech branches are purchased, activate the relic to trigger the final defensive wave and finish the run.
