To clear high Trial Levels past TL 170 within the target timer using an Arcanist Blizzard Mage in Eternium, you must play the mob phase aggressively. The Arcanist set relies on high enemy volume to refresh cooldowns and sustain damage multipliers. Stopping to kill isolated regular monsters burns valuable time and stalls resource regeneration. Success requires constantly advancing through the map, pulling multiple packs together, and stacking elite hitboxes under overlapping Blizzard casts.
Aggressive Pulling and Density Management
Your clear speed depends entirely on pack density. Blizzard deals area-of-effect damage across everything caught in its radius, meaning a cluster of 30 enemies yields significantly more gauge progression per second than clearing individual packs sequentially.
Follow these rules while advancing through the map:
- Ignore isolated trash: Tag lone monsters or small groups of three to four minions with quick casts or primary attacks, but do not stop walking. Drag them forward into unpulled rooms.
- Anchor your clusters on Elites: Use elite spawns as the rallying center for each pull, since they contribute the vast majority of your summoning progress.
- Corral ranged attackers with line of sight: Ranged casters and archers will stay at maximum range if you remain in the open. Break line of sight behind corridor corners or pillars to force them to run inward into melee range.
- Layer multiple Blizzards at critical mass: Once you gather 20 to 30 enemies around an elite core, cast your crowd-control tools to freeze the group, then stack consecutive Blizzards over the center of the pack.
Elite Stacking Strategy
At Trial Levels 175 through 179, fighting elite packs one by one will exhaust your timer. You must pull two or three separate elite packs into a single encounter zone so their health pools drain simultaneously under your area spells.
- Group the packs: Continue dragging existing elites forward until you encounter a second or third elite group.
- Reposition with micro-movements: Step only a few paces at a time to dodge elite ground affixes such as vortexes, lightning markers, and ground explosions. Long-distance running resets enemy pathfinding, scattering the cluster and reducing your Blizzard overlap.
- Focus primary damage on the healthiest Elite: Direct your primary attacks and targeted abilities into the elite with the highest remaining health. Ambient area damage and Arcanist cooldown procs will eliminate the surrounding minions and lower-health targets automatically.
Stat Priorities and Socket Optimization
Pushing into Trial Level 179 requires high offensive throughput alongside sufficient survivability to handle stray projectiles. Allocate your equipment attributes and jewel sockets around these priorities:
| Stat Category | Priority Attributes | Combat Function |
|---|---|---|
| Cooldown & Cycling | Ability Rate | Accelerates Blizzard frequency and triggers Arcanist cooldown resets. |
| Critical Strike | Critical Rating & Critical Damage | Multiplies ticking area damage across stacked elite hitboxes. |
| Damage Type | Frost Damage | Directly amplifies Blizzard and frost-based spell damage output. |
| Mobility | Movement Speed | Essential for dragging packs quickly and breaking line of sight. |
| Sockets | 3 Brilliant Relicites | Provides the raw stat scaling needed to break the high-tier damage check. |
Equipping three Brilliant Relicites provides the high baseline stat density necessary to overcome the aggressive health pools of TL 179 elites before the clock expires.
Transitioning to the Trial Boss
The mob phase ends immediately when the trial progress gauge reaches 100%, causing all surviving regular monsters to vanish and summoning the Trial Boss.
As the gauge nears completion, move away from narrow choke points and reposition into an open area free of persistent map hazards. Once the boss materializes, your role shifts from mob grouping to mechanics management:
- Cast Blizzard directly centered on the boss at all times.
- Maintain a steady casting rhythm while watching for boss telegraphs.
- Avoid heavy boss abilities using short, controlled repositions to preserve maximum spell uptime and finish the trial under eight minutes.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Eternium articles next.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
The tips are practical and easy to follow.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
