Defeating bosses in Eternium requires reacting to red telegraph markers, moving out of directional attacks, and interrupting lethal channels with companion abilities or rapid repositioning. Your immediate priority in every encounter is survival: clear the danger perimeter before executing your primary damage rotation.
Magroth
Magroth relies on heavy physical bursts, punishing stationary heroes with wide frontal cleaves and telegraphed ground slams.
- Leaping Slam: When a large red circular telegraph appears beneath your hero, tap outside the perimeter immediately. You have roughly one to two seconds before Magroth lands. Being hit inflicts heavy physical damage and stuns your hero, leaving you open to follow-up melee swings.
- Frontal Cleave: Avoid standing directly in front of Magroth. Never run straight backward when creating distance, as his forward rush can close the gap and catch you in his cleave cone.
- Movement Rules by Class: Ranged heroes (Bounty Hunters and Mages) should maintain a continuous circular kiting path around the boss. Warriors should attack and immediately step behind his back to let frontal swings miss entirely without losing melee uptime.
Elban
Elban is defined by stacking melee bleeds and a devastating channeled Life Drain that heals him while rapidly depleting your health.
- Breaking Life Drain: When a dark red beam tethers Elban to your hero, act immediately. Lingering in the tether for even two seconds can be fatal. Snap the beam by sprinting or using mobility skills away from him, or cast a companion crowd-control skill—such as Marcus's charge stun—the moment the channel starts to cancel it outright.
- Aerial Dive: When Elban disappears or initiates his jump animation, track the incoming red circular landing marker and move clear. Dodging the impact prevents massive physical burst damage and lingering bleed effects.
- Bleed Management: Sustained face-tanking against Elban will overwhelm your defensive recovery due to stacking bleeds. Use stutter-stepping between attacks to deal damage while remaining ready to disengage.
The Broken Dragon
The Broken Dragon features a massive hitbox, locked-direction breath channels, and falling ceiling hazards.
- Flame Breath: When the dragon winds up and coils its neck, it locks its facing angle and unleashes a continuous flame cone. Step behind its hind legs the moment the windup begins. This neutralizes the attack completely and creates an uninterrupted window to cast sustained damage skills like Blizzard, Snipe, or Whirlwind.
- Falling Cave Rocks: Multiple small red circles mark falling debris across the floor. Unlike targeted boss strikes, these cover wide arena sections. Weave between safe zones rather than committing to long casts; getting struck staggers your hero and leaves you vulnerable to a follow-up tail swipe or turn.
Garm
Garm covers the arena with corrosive spit and lingering green acid pools that strip your armor and deal escalating poison damage. Managing floor space is the core mechanic of this fight.
Pull Garm toward an outer arena wall as soon as the encounter begins. Slowly lead him in a controlled circle along the perimeter so toxic hazards drop behind you, leaving the center and the path ahead clean.
| Hazard | Visual Cue | Immediate Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Acid Spit | Green projectile arcing toward your location | Step perpendicular to the incoming projectile path |
| Toxic Pool | Glowing green liquid persisting on the ground | Step clear; never fight while standing inside a pool |
| Venomous Charge | Brief rear-back animation followed by a rush | Evade laterally to either flank; do not flee backward |
If Garm corners your hero or cuts off your path with hazards, use mobility skills such as Leap or Disengage to vault over older puddles into open space.
Kara the Tempest Queen
Kara combines invulnerability barriers with tracking lightning projectiles that punish uncoordinated offensive burst.
- Defensive Barrier: When Kara raises her circular shield, your direct damage drops sharply or reflects back. Stop your primary damage rotations and hold high-cooldown skills, such as Death from Above or offensive trinkets, until the barrier drops.
- Tracking Lightning Orbs: While shielded, Kara releases electrical spheres that slowly track your hero and deal lethal burst on contact. Lead these orbs around open floor space until they safely expire and detonate.
- Counter Window: The moment the barrier dissipates, deploy companion crowd-control abilities and unleash your offensive cooldowns to push her health bar before she can initiate another shield cycle.
