In Eternium's Gone Rogue mode, clearing deep floors with a Lightning Bolt setup requires drafting attack speed and chain perks early while maintaining strict perimeter kiting in combat rooms. Lightning Bolt delivers instant-hit ranged damage that jumps between targets, making it ideal for eliminating heavy frontline threats while passively clearing weaker support units.

Draft Priority and Perk Selection

Gone Rogue offers randomized draft choices between floors. To keep your damage scaling ahead of rising monster health pools, invest exclusively in attributes that multiply your primary lightning output. Spreading choices across unrelated elemental mechanics dilutes your build and stalls your damage output against late-stage elites.

Prioritize perks in this order:

  • Attack Speed and Haste: Reduces cast animations and recovery windows, allowing you to fire rapidly and stutter-step without getting caught by fast melee pursuers.
  • Chain and Pierce Enhancements: Increases the number of arcs per cast, transforming a focused single-target strike into full-pack clearance.
  • Critical Rating and Critical Damage: Generates burst damage spikes across multiple chained targets, softening dense packs before they reach melee distance.
  • Movement Speed: Provides the baseline mobility required to stay outside melee strike range and evade area-of-effect markers.
  • Life on Hit: Replenishes chip damage taken from unavoidable ranged projectiles without requiring defensive detours.

Avoid drafting split elemental damage types, such as burn or chill effects, or close-range defensive armor procs unless your health is critically low. Pure offensive tempo ensures monsters die before they can swarm your hero.

Room Clearing and Kiting Route

The greatest hazard in a Lightning Bolt run is getting surrounded in open ground by multi-directional mob spawns. To prevent this, never push through the center of an uncleared room.

  1. Trigger aggro at the entrance: Cast an initial bolt at the nearest visible pack from the doorway or alcove to pull aggro.
  2. Move along the outer perimeter: Circle clockwise or counter-clockwise along the outer walls of the arena. This pathing forces approaching enemies into a trailing column directly behind you, maximizing the bounce efficiency of your chain lightning.
  3. Stutter-step in rhythm: Cast two to three bolts while stationary, take two steps backward along the wall, and fire again. This cadence keeps damage output high while maintaining distance.
  4. Ignore isolated stragglers: Do not stop moving to finish off an individual low-health mob if heavier elites are advancing behind it. Let secondary chain bounces clean up low-tier units.

Boss and Elite Tactics

Boss encounters require sustained single-target focus while constantly tracking floor hazards. Stay near the edge of the screen to keep maximum casting range and spot telegraphed attacks early.

SituationPriority ActionMistake to Avoid
Minion SpawnsKeep primary fire locked on the boss so chain arcs hit the minions passively.Manually switching targets to individual adds, which lowers boss DPS.
Telegraphed Ground AOEStop attacking immediately and move laterally out of the highlighted area.Greedily finishing a cast inside the blast zone.
Boss Gap-Closers or EnrageSprint behind pillars or wall obstacles to break line of sight.Backing into a dead-end corner with no exit route.

If the boss arena contains pillars or stone blocks, use them to block incoming projectile attacks. Step out briefly to loose a volley of bolts, then duck back behind cover before the boss fires its ranged abilities.
