Ghosting in Evony protects your army from being wiped out inside your keep by locking your soldiers into 60-minute alliance rallies against high-level boss monsters. Troops committed to an alliance rally staging queue cannot be attacked or killed inside your city walls. If an opponent hits your keep while your entire army is ghosted, they strike an empty city, suffering wall traps while earning minimal combat score and inflicting zero troop casualties on your main force.
How to Set Up a 60-Minute Ghost Rally
To ghost your army, queue your troops into maximum-length alliance rallies across every available march slot before entering combat zones or dropping a Truce Agreement.
- Locate a high-level boss monster: Search the map for a distant, high-tier boss monster. Choosing a difficult or remote monster prevents alliance members from casually joining and launching the march early.
- Open the rally menu: Tap the monster, select Alliance Rally, and change the rally preparation timer from the default 5 minutes to 60 minutes.
- Assign your march: Select your highest-tier combat units and designated general to fill the march slot to maximum capacity.
- Confirm the rally: Launch the rally. Your troops are now in the staging queue and cannot be targeted by incoming city attacks.
- Repeat for all march slots: Continue creating 60-minute rallies on monsters until every open march slot is utilized and your keep has zero combat troops remaining.
| Ghosting Step | Action Required | Key Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Target Selection | High-level or distant boss | Pick monsters allies cannot easily kill |
| Timer Setting | 60-minute rally preparation | Never leave the timer at 5 or 10 minutes |
| Troop Allocation | Fill full march capacity | Prioritize highest-tier combat units |
| Queue Coverage | Fill every available march slot | City defense count should show zero |
Teleporting Safely While Ghosted
Relocating across high-threat battlefields like the Battle of Gaugamela (BoG), the Battle of Constantinople (BoC), or Server vs. Server (SvS) events exposes your keep to enemy strikes the moment you arrive.
To jump safely:
- Confirm that all offensive and defensive troops are locked in active 60-minute rallies.
- Verify that your city overview displays zero troops inside the keep.
- Use an Advance Teleport or Random Teleport to jump to your target coordinates.
If an opposing player hits your keep immediately after you land, their strike hits an empty city. You will lose wall durability, but your march units remain protected in the rally queue.
Disbanding Rallies for Instant Strikes
Troops waiting in a rally preparation window do not need to march back to your city when the rally is canceled. Because the 60-minute timer represents staging inside your city gate, canceling the rally returns your army instantly.
- How to cancel: Open the Alliance War menu, locate your active 60-minute rally, and tap Disband. Your general and troops return to your city immediately with zero travel time.
- Combat cycling: Disband a single rally to launch an immediate attack on a nearby enemy, capture a building, or clear a tile. Once that combat action finishes and the march returns, immediately ghost those units into a fresh 60-minute rally before taking your next action.
Ghosting Limitations and Failure Points
Ghosting is a temporary combat shield that fails if key mechanics are mismanaged:
- Capacity limits: Ghosting only protects as many troops as your total march capacity allows across all march slots. Any troops left over in the keep will defend and die if attacked. If your total troop count exceeds your cumulative march capacity, you must rely on a Truce Agreement.
- Short timer errors: Forgetting to toggle the timer to 60 minutes causes your march to depart after 5 or 10 minutes. Once moving across the world map, the march cannot be disbanded instantly.
- Monster snipes and despawns: If another player defeats your targeted monster while your rally is staging, the rally automatically cancels, placing your entire army back inside your keep without warning. Always target monsters located far away from hostile alliances.
- Allied joins: Tell alliance members not to join your ghost rallies, as extra participants complicate rally cancellations during fast combat.

The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This saved me time in the early game.
