To survive enemy attacks and score positive point trades in Evony Server vs Server (SvS) war, build a massive Tier 1 mounted troop meat shield, layer your remaining tiers, configure flat defense refines on your wall general, and activate subordinate city debuffs before dropping your truce bubble.
Recommended SvS Troop Composition
Your defense relies on a high-volume Tier 1 mounted base that absorbs incoming hits while preserving higher-tier units. Thin intermediate layers force attacking marches to spend combat rounds clearing individual tiers.
| Troop Tier | Unit Type | Recommended Count Range | Strategic Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | Mounted Troops | 100M – 300M+ | Primary damage sponge and close-range counter |
| Tier 2 – Tier 10 | All Troop Types | 1,000 – 10,000 per tier | Combat round delay buffers and layer absorption |
| Tier 11 – Tier 13 | Ranged & Siege | 50,000 – 200,000 per tier | In-city return fire against attacking ground and archer marches |
| Tier 14 – Tier 15 | All Troop Types | Minimal / Ghosted | Prevents large point losses; ghost during heavy enemy rallies |
Maintain thin buffers across T2 through T10 to slow down the attacker's advance through combat rounds. Ghost high-tier offensive troops (T14 and T15) during incoming rallies so an overwhelming hit does not wipe high-value units and concede massive SvS points.
Wall General and Beast Setup
Configure your wall generals specifically for low-tier troop mechanics before taking any hits:
- Refine for Flat Stats: Equip your main wall general with gear refined for flat mounted Defense and flat mounted HP. Flat numerical bonuses provide far higher effective stat gains to massive T1 armies than percentage-based buffs.
- Resolve Skill Conflicts: Check your assistant wall general's equipped skill books against the primary general. Overlapping skills appear grayed out and deactivate completely in battle.
- Assign Beasts or Dragons: Attach a high-level Spiritual Beast or defensive Dragon that increases in-city mounted survivability or reduces incoming siege range.
- Confirm Garrison Status: Verify that both generals are assigned to the wall and that city defense status is toggled on.
Subordinate City Debuffs and Mayor Gear
Subordinate cities reduce incoming march stats toward minimum caps. Set up your sub-cities to counter common attack marches:
- Equip Mayor Sets: Outfit all subordinate city mayors with full sets of Achaemenidae or Parthian gear. Prioritize debuffing enemy ranged attack, ranged HP, and ground defense to neutralize archer attacks directed at your mounted units.
- Enable Defense Participation: Ensure the "Accept Defend" box is checked for every linked subordinate city so their debuff auras apply when your main keep is attacked.
- Minimize Sub-City Troop Counts: Keep troop training in subordinate cities minimal or restricted to low tiers. High troop counts in sub-cities provide easy kill points for attackers.
- Monitor Sub-City Health: If consecutive hits lower a sub-city's health, use recovery items or gems immediately to prevent the city from unlinking and dropping its debuffs.
Timed Buffs, Monarch Gear, and City Management
Activate your war setup at least one hour before combat begins:
- Switch Monarch Gear: Swap development gear for military monarch gear. Focus on Ground Defense, Mounted Defense, and HP gems.
- Activate City Buffs: Use 24-hour 20% or 50% Attack, Defense, and HP buffs from the keep buff interface. Apply march size and rally capacity items if you plan to reinforce allies.
- Equip Defensive Blazons: Select Blazon sets tailored to in-city defense, such as Soul or Honor, to increase damage resistance and reduce incoming critical hit rates.
- Clear Open Resources: Keep unprotected resources—especially food—below your warehouse protection limits. Store food in resource boxes to prevent upkeep consumption and remove incentives for enemy scouts.
- Prepare Healing Reserves: Check Hospital capacity, upgrade the Holy Palace to maximize soul-gathering limits, and stockpile medical speedups so you can heal wounded T1 cavalry between incoming hits. Coordinate with alliance members for T13 and T14 ranged reinforcements to add backline damage behind your mounted frontline.
