To unlock and use Dragon active skills in Evony, upgrade your Pasture to the required Keep milestone, feed your chosen dragon to at least level 10 to unlock its skill and talent slots, and assign the beast directly to your main march general. Active skills do not trigger on unassigned dragons or those paired with assistant generals.

Pasture Level Milestones and Dragon Affinities

The Pasture houses all standard dragons. Unlocking each beast requires upgrading the Pasture building to specific Keep-tier milestones. Once unlocked, each dragon boosts specific troop types and tactical roles.

DragonPasture Level RequiredTroop AffinityTactical Role
Celtic DemonLevel 21Mounted / GroundMonster hunting, cavalry attacks, wall defense
FafnirLevel 26Siege / GroundSiege attacks, bunker cracking, rally leading
Norway RidgeLevel 30Ranged / MountedRanged PvP marches, ranged defense, enemy debuffs
ThebesLevel 35Ground / MountedGround assault, frontline defense, survivability

A newly unlocked dragon does not grant active skills right away. Leveling the dragon increases its base Attack, Defense, and HP attributes, raises march buff percentages, and unlocks skill slots at higher levels. Focus on raising one dragon to level 10 before splitting resources across other unlocked beasts.

Feeding Routines and Experience Management

Dragons require Dragon EXP gained through feeding at the Pasture. Feeding options include standard resources (Food and Gold) as well as premium currencies (Gems and Dragon Crystals). Because daily feed costs escalate with each attempt and reset daily, manage your resources using the following steps:

  1. Exhaust base feeds after server reset: Complete the lowest-tier Gold and standard resource feeds daily before costs ramp up.
  2. Cap Gem feeding early: Stop spending Gems on daily feeding once the per-feed Gem cost doubles beyond your sustainable daily earnings.
  3. Save Dragon Crystals for single-dragon pushes: Hoard Dragon Crystals earned from boss monsters and battlefield events, then invest them entirely into your primary combat dragon until it reaches level 10.
  4. Avoid parallel leveling: Spreading EXP evenly across multiple low-tier dragons delays unlocking active skill slots on all of them.

Assigning Dragons and Activating Talents

Once a dragon reaches its level milestones, invest earned talent points to complement its active skill triggers and your primary army composition.

  • Match march specializations: Pair Celtic Demon with mounted leaders like Roland or Martinus, and assign Norway Ridge to ranged commanders like Elektra or Minamoto.
  • Assign to the main general: Active skills, talent triggers, and stat transfers only activate when the dragon is attached to the primary general leading the march. Attaching a dragon to an assistant general disables these active benefits.
  • Set defense dragons manually: Assign your highest-defense dragon to your main Wall General during Server vs. Server (SvS) or the Battle of Gaugamela to activate in-city defensive buffs and active skills when attacked.
  • Align talents with skill mechanics: Check whether your dragon's active skill is an instant burst, an aura buff, or a conditional debuff. Allocate talent points to amplify that specific condition (such as ranged attack multipliers or round-one burst) rather than spreading points into unrelated troop stats.

Refining Precautions

Do not spend refining stones and Gems to refine dragon skill slots before the dragon reaches level 10. Locking desired skill rolls multiplies the refining cost per attempt. Low-level dragons have lower baseline stat multipliers, meaning early refining yields small returns that consume valuable materials needed for endgame rolls. Keep your Pasture level synchronized with your Keep upgrades so new dragons unlock alongside higher troop tiers.
