To survive all 20 waves of the Undead Invasion and maximize your score in Evony, you must defend your city against two-strike elimination while dispatching spare marches to reinforce alliance members during early waves. Defending your own walls yields standard defense score, but garrisoning weaker teammates provides substantial bonus points based on the kills your visiting troops secure.

The event follows a strict two-strike rule. If an incoming wave defeats your garrison, your keep catches fire. Suffering two defensive failures eliminates your keep from the remainder of the event, stopping all further point generation and reducing your alliance's total ranking tally.

Wave Progression and Troop Deployment

Undead forces scale in march speed, troop tier, and combat power as the event advances. Adjust your deployments according to the danger level of each wave bracket.

Wave RangeThreat LevelDefensive and Reinforcement Action
Waves 1–10LowSend 2–4 marches to garrison weaker alliance members. Keep basic layers at home.
Waves 11–15ModerateReduce exterior support to 1–2 marches. Check combat reports if below Keep 30.
Waves 16–19HighRecall reinforcement marches to brace your own walls against heavy siege strikes.
Wave 20Boss MarchFull home garrison. Ensure all armies are inside your city before the boss lands.

Pre-Event Keep Preparation

Undead waves resolve combat using standard in-city defense rules. Before your alliance triggers the event, complete these defensive checks:

  • Assign Wall Generals: Place your primary defensive general on the city wall alongside an assistant wall general. Equip skill books and gear that specifically boost in-city troop health, city defense, and ranged attack.
  • Expand and Clear Hospital Capacity: Defeated units during the event become wounded rather than instantly dead. If your hospital capacity overflows, all excess casualties die permanently. Heal all existing wounded units before the event starts and activate hospital capacity buffs if your space is narrow.
  • Keep Armies in the City: Do not hide troops in 60-minute alliance war rallies. Troops hidden in fake rallies cannot defend your walls, leaving your city unprotected and causing an immediate failed defense strike.

Reinforcement Rules and Best Practices

Reinforcement points depend on active combat participation. When your troops defend an ally's keep, you receive points proportional to the enemy units your visiting troops eliminate.

  1. Verify Embassy Capacity: The receiving player's Embassy level caps the total number of foreign troops that can shelter inside their walls. Coordinate within alliance chat so multiple players do not overfill a single keep and waste marching time.
  2. Target Weaker Keeps Early: Players under Keep 27 frequently struggle beyond Wave 11. Station fast ranged or mounted marches in these cities during Waves 1 through 10 to clear low-tier swarms on their behalf.
  3. Monitor Return Timers: Troops traveling on the map cannot defend your keep or their destination until their march finishes. Account for march return times so your troops are safely behind your own walls before Wave 16 hits.

Post-Event Hospital Recovery

After Wave 20 concludes, your hospital will likely hold high numbers of wounded troops. Do not spend large speedup reserves immediately. Heal your wounded troops in small batches that fit within the free time deduction provided by your alliance help limit. Request alliance helps for each small batch to restore your army with minimal speedup and resource consumption.
