To pose characters and layer scenes in Gacha Club Studio Mode, set character depth planes using the Z-index controls, manually tweak eyes and eyebrows in Adjustment mode, and use the Hide UI button before taking your final screenshot.

Arranging Characters and Depth Planes

Establishing visual depth requires positioning characters on distinct layers within Studio Mode:

  • Z-Index Layering: Assign primary foreground characters to higher Z-index values and background characters to lower ones. If a character's arm appears to clip through another model, raise the foreground limb's layer index to mask the collision.
  • Y-Axis Positioning: Select the Move tool to adjust a character's vertical alignment. Lowering a character's Y-axis position relative to another alters their stance for sitting or leaning positions.
  • Sprite Proximity: Overlap character hitboxes slightly to position sprites close together. Keep background assets clear of the immediate foreground to prevent visual clutter around character interactions.

Customizing Facial Expressions

Avoid standard expression presets when fine-tuning character emotions. Open the Face customization menu and use Adjustment mode to edit individual features:

  • Eyelids: Lower the upper eyelids slightly to soften a character's gaze.
  • Eyebrows: Tilt eyebrows inward using the angle controls to show tension or vulnerability.
  • Mouth Adjustments: Use the Hide feature on default mouth presets, then select custom mouth shapes that fit the specific scene tone.
  • Blush Options: Apply subtle blush layers to signal embarrassment or physical closeness.

Fine-Tuning Poses and Accessories

Static default poses can make characters look rigid. Adjust body parts individually in the Pose menu:

  1. Rotate Torso and Shoulders: Tilt the upper body to make characters lean naturally toward adjacent objects or characters.
  2. Move Limbs Independently: Shift arm and leg joints individually to prevent default floating animations when characters are resting.
  3. Scale Character Sprites: Use the Scale setting to shrink seated or lying characters slightly. This prevents models from hovering above or clipping into background furniture assets.
  4. Select Hand Presets: Swap default hands for open or gripping presets to match touching or holding actions.
  5. Attach Props: Open the Extra tab to add environmental items, such as pillows or handheld accessories. Use the Color Adjust tool to match prop colors to the character's primary outfit palette.

Exporting Clean Screenshots

Once your characters, props, and layers are positioned:

  1. Open the Studio Mode main menu.
  2. Select the Hide UI button to remove all control bars, grid overlays, and menu buttons.
  3. Take your screen capture or device screenshot with a clean view of the scene.
