To beat Hand of Doom (Mission 21) in Iron Marines+, secure your landing base chokepoints with upgraded turrets, field a durable frontline backed by anti-armor fire, and advance through the corridors incrementally rather than rushing forward. Aggressive Fell patrol waves and narrow paths quickly punish split squads or wasted Ether.

Fortify the Landing Base and Chokepoints

Early Fell attack waves arrive while your Ether reserves are still low. Prioritize defending your base before moving out to claim external map objectives:

  1. Build immediately on base pads: Construct baseline Gatling Turrets on the open pads flanking your command core to clear early light infantry.
  2. Upgrade for armor: Transition these emplacements to auto-cannons or missile platforms as soon as armored Fell units begin testing your lines.
  3. Station an infantry buffer: Place a basic infantry squad or frontline unit within the turret firing arc. This draws melee attacks away from the structure and keeps enemies grouped in the turret's field of fire.
  4. Secure Ether nodes: Once your immediate entry lanes are stable, capture the nearest Ether extractors to fund additional unit caps and upgrades.

Hand of Doom features tight corridors where fragile, pure-damage compositions can easily be wiped out by sudden ambushes. Maintain a compact, balanced strike force:

  • Frontline Anchors (Brawlers or Guardians): Absorb initial damage spikes, engage heavy melee Fell units, and protect your backline.
  • Long-Range Anti-Armor (Snipers or Heavy Mechs): Take down defensive turrets and high-tier armored targets before your squad enters close-range combat.
  • Support Units (Diplomats or Medics): Provide shields or healing to lower squad casualties, which conserves Ether by reducing unit replacement costs.

Avoid flooding the field with unsheltered, light infantry. Rebuilding lost squads drains Ether that is better spent on upgrades and resilient combat units.

Hero Positioning and Ability Timing

Keep your hero stationed directly alongside or slightly behind your primary frontline tanks. Blind corners and intersection ambushes can defeat an overextended hero before reinforcements arrive.

If your hero drops to low health, retreat behind your defensive line immediately. Losing a hero removes active firepower and support, often forcing your entire squad to yield ground while waiting for the revive timer.

Corridor Pushing and the Final Assault

Advancing across Mission 21 requires a deliberate leapfrog method to avoid aggroing multiple enemy clusters at once:

  • Bait enemy sentries: Position long-range units at the edge of enemy vision to draw sentries back into your established firing line.
  • Build forward bastions: Whenever you secure an intermediate outpost, claim the building pads and face new turrets toward unexplored territory. These create safe fallback points if an advance encounters heavy resistance.
  • Clear outer defenses first: At the final Fell compound, use long-range bombardment or special weapons to destroy peripheral structures and perimeter turrets before storming the center.
  • Execute the final breach: Once outer defenses are down and your squad's health and cooldowns are fully restored, send armored units in first to draw fire. Follow with your hero's crowd-control abilities and concentrate your ranged damage on the primary objective structures to finish the mission.
