To beat the Uninvited Guests mission in Iron Marines+, stabilize your central command base before expanding outward. Hold the landing perimeter using hero Taggins and Space Marines, secure secondary Etherium extractors one at a time, and transition into a backline of Snipers to destroy enemy hives from outside their retaliation range.
Early Base Defense Setup
The mission begins under immediate multi-directional attack from Fell swarms. Establish a tight defense at your starting chokepoints before sending units out to explore.
- Position Taggins at the main lane: Place Taggins directly in the entrance where the first wave gathers. Activate his energy shield to absorb melee damage so your regular units do not bleed health early.
- Deploy Space Marines behind the hero: Train an initial squad of Space Marines and place them behind natural terrain narrows. This prevents swarming Felllings from flanking and surrounding them.
- Build an early Gatling turret: Construct a Gatling turret on the defense pad nearest to the heaviest enemy traffic. Its high fire rate eliminates light swarms before they reach your troops.
- Hold position during early timers: Keep all squads clustered within mutual firing range until the opening assault timer expires. Do not wander into the fog of war until the initial perimeter is stable.
Expanding to Secondary Etherium Extractors
Sustaining high-tier unit upgrades and static defenses requires capturing external Etherium nodes. Because starting construction on an extractor triggers harassment waves, capture each node systematically:
- Clear the site first: Wipe out lingering Fell lurkers and nearby dormant nests before claiming the node.
- Escort the capture: Send Taggins and an armored squad directly onto the node platform to defend the extractor during construction.
- Build static defense immediately: Place a Gatling turret on the node's defensive pad as soon as it unlocks to counter wandering flankers.
- Take one node at a time: Splitting your forces between two external extractors dilutes your damage output and leaves both locations vulnerable to collapse.
Unit Roles and Squad Composition
As armored Fell beasts and acid spitters appear, basic riflemen lose effectiveness. Reconfigure your squad composition to balance durable frontline shields with long-range armor penetration.
| Unit Type | Primary Role | Positioning | Priority Targets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Space Marines | Core line holder | Mid-range bottlenecks | Fast swarms and light Felllings |
| Brawlers | Melee interceptor | Ahead of the main line | Burrowing ambushers and heavy beasts |
| Snipers | Long-range armor piercer | Behind frontline cover | Acid spitters, large beasts, and hives |
Snipers serve as your primary damage dealers from the mid-game onward. Keep them stationary behind Brawlers or Taggins so their slow rate of fire is not interrupted by incoming melee attackers.
Turret Placement and Upgrades
Static defense pads allow you to hold captured lanes without leaving mobile units behind. Match each turret choice to the enemy types traveling that corridor:
- Gatling Turrets: Best for narrow routes frequented by light, fragile Felllings. Their rapid target acquisition clears packs quickly.
- Missile Turrets: Upgrade pads along paths facing heavy carapace beasts. Missile fire deals area-of-effect impact damage that breaks clusters, allowing backline Snipers to finish off survivors.
If a turret takes heavy melee focus, move Taggins into the fray to redirect enemy aggro while the structure recovers.
Destroying the Fell Hives
Alien hives spawn continuous waves into active lanes until destroyed. Once all owned extractors have active turrets and full garrisons, assemble an assault force to clear the map.
Form a single strike group containing Taggins, a frontline squad of Brawlers or Marines, and two squads of Snipers. Move toward each nest slowly to pull defending packs into your frontline. Once the defending bugs engage your frontline, manually target the hive structure with your Snipers from maximum range. Destroy each hive before pushing into the next sector to finish the mission.

Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
This guide answered the exact question I had.
This saved me time in the early game.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Iron Marines+ articles next.
