To beat Stage 29 (Ancient Ghost) in Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+, build a central choke at the main lower intersection using Bone Flingers and Dark Knights for physical stalling, backed by Specters Mausoleum and Blazing Gem for targeted magic damage.
Recommended Tower and Hero Loadout
Stage 29 features split paths where fast ethereal runners bypass melee units while heavily armored specters absorb standard physical hits. Bring a balanced setup to control swarms and shred single-target health pools:
- Bone Flingers: Spawns skeleton blockers with The Walking Dead upgrade and chips down fast ground and flying swarms at low cost.
- Specters Mausoleum: Provides essential magic burst and lane disruption. Its Possession ability turns mid-tier spectral enemies against incoming waves.
- Blazing Gem: Uses a ramping thermal beam to melt high-health apparitions and lane elites before they reach the exit.
- Dark Knights: Serves as your primary frontline wall. High armor holds enemy groups inside your magic tower ranges.
- Hero (Murglun, Eiskalt, Asra, or Oloch): Crowd-control and true-damage heroes excel here. Free-to-play choices like Asra and Oloch provide armor-shredding damage and teleport stalls.
Opening Wave Setup
Enemy paths converge near the lower-central corridor before dividing toward separate exits. Avoid over-investing in expensive Level 3 towers early, which leaves your lanes vulnerable to quick leaks.
- Build the central choke: Place a Level 2 Bone Flingers at the main intersection and position a Level 1 Dark Knights garrison slightly downstream.
- Station your hero: Place your hero directly behind the Dark Knights to handle early runners and add direct damage.
- Add magic damage: Build a Level 1 Specters Mausoleum covering the same intersection to bypass the physical armor of early floating apparitions.
- Hold cooldowns: Save Reinforcements and your Soul Impact spell to intercept any rogue spirits that slip past your skeleton blockers.
Enemy Threat Counters
| Enemy Threat Type | Primary Defense | Recommended Counter | Tactical Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spectral Runners | High speed / Evasion | Bone Flingers + Hero slows | High; eliminate before they slip past garrisons |
| Possessed Armors | Heavy physical armor | Blazing Gem / Specters Mausoleum | High; burn down at the central choke |
| Ghostly Apparitions | Magic resistance / Swarms | Upgraded Bone Flingers darts | Medium; clear quickly to free single-target DPS |
| Ancient Specter Elites | Massive HP / Disruption | Possession + Blazing Gem beam | Critical; stall with Reinforcements outside exit zones |
Mid-Wave Priority Upgrades
From Wave 6 through Wave 10, waves add armored brutes and backline support casters. Raw low-level towers will begin to fall behind on damage:
- Specters Mausoleum (Level 4): Buy Rank 1 of Possession immediately. Mind-controlling high-tier specters removes a threat while creating an instant roadblock.
- Blazing Gem (Level 4): Position this tower on the primary lane curve. Manually retarget the beam onto large spectral ancients so the damage ramp-up is not wasted on low-health minions.
- Dark Knights (Shield of Spikes): Add spike reflection to punish dense clusters of attacking melee spirits without requiring additional towers.
Late-Wave Lane Control and Boss Execution
The final waves apply simultaneous pressure across both the primary approach and the secondary lane:
- Guard the secondary bend: Construct a Level 3 Bone Flingers and a Level 3 Specters Mausoleum along the secondary lane to prevent flanking pushes from overwhelming your central exit.
- Drop Reinforcements ahead of runners: Place militia units in front of moving apparitions rather than behind them to force engagement and reset their movement speed.
- Reposition your hero: Move your hero forward to engage elite casters before they cast debuffs on your core damage towers.
- Focus the final boss wave: When the Ancient Ghost elite spawns with its escort, trigger your hero ultimate and active spells to clear out surrounding minions. This allows your Blazing Gem to lock its thermal beam directly onto the boss until the stage is cleared.
